: Yui's conversation with Fuyutuski, about what Gehrin wanted her to
: & how she had to do it to protect Shinji, make the whole experiment
: seem arranged between just Yui & Gehrin.
: Afterwards Gendou might have guessed that Gehrin/SEELE was behind
: That's my thinking. My interpretation of Yui's ultimate intent for
: being absorbed ('complimented') to Unit-01 was to be able to provide
: own influence in the eventual third impact - to throw herself into
: works to prevent Seele's Third Impact plan.
: I think she knew exactly what would happen, as foreseen in Seele's
: secret Dead Sea Scrolls - and her interpretation of the event was
: Gendou would set the stage for a defiance of Seele's plans, and that
: Shinji would be there at the critical moment - and she sacrificed
: material existence and her life with her family to spur Gendou along
: that path and to put herself in the right places at the right times
: help Shinji survive and to help him make the 'right' choice at the
: moment of Complementation.
So perhaps Yui did not want/believe in Complimentation. Her influence
on Shinji subconsciously & what she said to him in EoE seem that she
was not 100% in favour.
Gendou OTOH was in favour of anything to be reunited with Yui,
somehow. So much that he lost sight of caring for his son - Yui had
hoped he would care & Gendou was excluded as "punishment" for his
neglect. (using Old Testament comparisons, its like Moses being denied
access to the promised land.)
SEELE said they did not want to create a God, which they accused
Gendou of doing, and that was having no idea how much of Yui's
influence remained in 01, or Shinji's strange bond with both. I don't
think Gendou really knew, though he sensed something extraordinary
migh be happening.
