Your initial statement was that "putting Lilith's soul into a clone of Adam would be a BAD idea (forbidden joining of Adam and Lilith, anyone?)". I was just pointing out that the "forbidden joining" was different and thus bringing it up in this context does not show that putting Lilith's soul into a clone of Adam is necessarily a bad idea. Yes there are different combinations of components that can be used to initiate an impact, but Lilith's soul in a clone of Adam's body is never shown as one of them.

I agree, however my point was; why construct all of these extra theories, such as Gendou and Co. limiting Rei's synch rate with Eva-00 and thus allow her to pilot it without risk, when the must simpler explanation is simply that there is no risk? If both ideas explain the situation equally well, why choose the one where you need added assumptions? The explanation that Lilith's soul in a clone of Adam would not cause an impact has far fewer assumptions that your idea about artificially limiting her synch rate so as to avoid a 400% incident. You can't selectively use Occam's razor when it suits you and not use it when it doesn't.

I remember the scene you are talking about, but I can't remember a spherical object. I just recall them swimming around in circles ^_^ It could be her core, but I couldn't say for sure unless looking at it again, and my DVDs back in Australia right now. Unless someone out there has a screencap I guess we will just have to leave this one lie.

I don't think the core itself is isolated, I believe that when it is placed within an Eva it is essentially a part of it, what I'm suggesting is that the core isolates the soul from the rest of the body. The core resides within the Eva, but the soul resides within the core. In effect it is kept separate from the rest of the body by the core. I think this line of discussion is very interesting, as the nature of the core, its origins and purpose are not completely understood. Ultimately though, this point is effectively moot if it can't be established that the combination of Lilith's soul in a clone of Adam's body would cause an impact.
