Evangelion games have always been successful in Japan due to its
mainstream presence and popularity. However in the western world it
occupies a very small niche, where only a handful of devoted evangelion
fans who also happen to be avid gamers would be interested in buying
it. Even if they were to sell several thousand to ten thousand copies,
which I think would be quite modest considering its demographic, it
would still be a financial loss. It would be one thing if they were
simply porting the game over, but are you aware just how much dialogue
would need to be translated? Stacks of books worth of dialogue.
Theres much more dialogue than the series and movies combined. The
development studio, or any company that would attempt or consider
bringing Evangelion 2 to the western or english speaking market would
actually stand to lose money. It just isn't finanicially viable to
do. If Evangelion had the mainstream popularity of say Dragon Ball Z,
Beyblade, Digimon, Pokemon, or Gundam, then I could conceed the
possibility of it making its way over here. But until the time that
Eva gets put on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim and becomes some sort of
phenomenon, its simply not going to come over here.
The only way you're going to play it is by either importing it and
learning some Japanese, or pray that some Eva geeks with too much time
on their hands decided to decompile the game, translate, and pirate it.
