You do well at that. As much as the list rules, last time I checked them,
stated that presentation posts are best avoided, they also say to 1) stay on
topic and 2) be nice to the others, both of which the remark about it not
being a sport evidently failed.
Now, back on Eva-related stuff. I am pleased to note that, in my opinion,
this latest stage of the manga sees the return on Sadamoto's part to some
less sketchy backgrounds and overall more tridimensional renderings of the
characters. Chibi-Rei looks much better here than in the tv series as far as
I'm concerned, due to the different perspective from which we see the
events, that is, Ritsuko's instead of Naoko's. The kid makes you want to
pinch her puffy (if pale) cheeks. :P
She also does not have the hideous smile that - perspective-wise - probably
Naoko superimposed on her, and judging from her words, she isn't spiteful
either. I wonder how much of the pity she expresses is her own and how much
she was induced to express by Gendou.
Sadamoto also displays skill at rendering characters overall differently
based on changes in their nature, most notably Ritsuko's young, unwordly and
kind of innocent face in the flashback as opposed to the hardened, sharp,
languid and manipulative looks in the last few panels. Even Naoko has bright
looks before the author points out her feelings towards Yui and Rei, at
which point they switch to a grim face of frustration and self loathing.
Very appreciable indeed.
And no, no scans, I read (ok, mostly watched) the real thing, so no luck.
(must resist urge to put an evil emoticon here...)
