Well, given that souls in Evangelion are tiny red spheres, it'd be a tiny 
red sphere floating up to him holding a gun. And besides, it's Kaji. He'd 
probably prepared himself for the possibility of Unit 00's soul coming to 
kill him many times.

And yes, I forgot Penpen. That's because Penpen is Kaji.

(Though really, Penpen is another manifestation of Rei, since s/he's voiced 
by Megumi Hayashibara!)
