As I got it, it's an alternate universe "world simulator". The story starts
around the times of #17, when Eva-03 goes Tokyo-3, and runs up to EoE
events. It's being accompanied by the main character, Kenzaki Kyouya, ex uni
classmate from Misato, Ritsuko and Kaji, and part of the Intelligence Dept.
There's another new character, Kaga Hitomi, some sort of scientist who got
PhD's early (a la Asuka), assigned to Project E. Don't know much about the
plot itself, though.
