[EVA]Tatsunoko Productions

I received an e-mail the other day:

<< I have a question do you know what role that tatsunoko played in 
animating Neon Genesis Evangelion. and why did Gainax call them. >>

Evangelion's production is one of my weak points. The most I know about 
Tatsunoko is that they (is it more than one person?) did genga, judging by 
the appearance of the relevant emblem on various key frame animation 
published in the _Groundwork_ books. If anyone here knows more, please 
shower me with you wisdom! ^_^
