EoE Shinji is not the same as TV Shinji IMO.  The boy that angrily
kills Kaworu & argues back (albeit weakly) with Misato over what he
did being right or wrong, is a stronger more resolute kid than the
pile of jelly he's made to be in EoE.  The biggest flaw in EoE,
period.  YMMV.

AFA manga Shinji, even if he started the same as anime Shinji, what
has happened, & what he's been through are different - & worse
arguably.  Manga Shinji has been affected differently, & anime Shinji
would be different to how we know him, if he had been through same.

Misato has been relegated to uninteresting & shallow in the manga.
Asuka has been pushed out for Kaworu tp get the limelight.  I can see
the 02 v prod. Evas returning though & this might get her the boost.
Who knows, a bolder Shinji & mellower Asuka might gel together so
well, its the perfect ending!
