Your guide however doesn't mention the difference between the series as 
aired on TV and as released on home video. Episodes 1-24 were altered for 
the home video release, it's just that 21-24 had much greater changes.

So there are three versions of the Evangelion TV series
As originally aired on Japanese television (of which episodes 21-26 were 
released by ADV on VHS and DVD)
As shown on Japanese home video (of which episodes 1-20 were originally 
released by ADV on VHS and DVD, and later 21-24 got released as well)
As shown on Renewal (of which it all got released by ADV as their Platinum 
edition.)
