A bit more info on the original subject:

Evangelion Chronicle will be released twice per month on the 1st and  
the 15th, so the scheduled 30 volumes will span 15 months.  The  
inaugural issue is 590 yen, and subsequent issues will cost 690 yen  
(subject to change).  The contents will basically cover the Eva  
storyline, the "mecha" (machines and devices), characters,  
explanations of strategy, technical notes and so on, and there will  
of course be various illustrations.  The pages are removable, and a  
binder can be purchased separately (1600 yen) so that the pages can  
be arranged and stored according to topic to create your very own  
"Eva Encyclopedia".  The first volume to be released this July 1 will  
introduce Evangelion Unit 01 and Shinji, and will explain the TV Ep1  
story.  (I assume that 30 volumes means one volume per TV episode  
with extra volumes for the movies.)

FWIW yes, I do plan to pick up the first volume and see if there  
really is anything new or otherwise worthy of note.  Of course,  
buying all 30 issues plus the binder would cost 22,200 yen (US$200),  
which is not only out of the question but IMO also a bit larcenous  
for what is essentially a 960-page "book".  :/
