The same one that has been there all along. "Shisha" is written
using the katakana phonetic character "shi" so it can have multiple
meanings and the kanji "sha" (person/thing). However, when you
combine the two into a single character you get the new kanji
"nagisa" which is not only Kaworu's last name but also means "beach/
shore", as in "(sea)shore" which might also be a play on the "shi-
sha" pronunciation.

Yes, the "human genes" part ties in with the DC scene (Antarctic Base
-> Second Impact) where they say that "The genes implanted into Adam
have already achieved physical merging!"
IMO Sadamoto is not just expanding details, but also explaining more
of the hidden settings, since he was deeply involved with that part
of the planning. In fact, according to a 2002 interview, Sadamoto is
the one who came up with the "dead mothers inside robots that are
operated by psychological bonding (synchronization) with their
children (pilots)" setting after learning about the existence of the
A^10 nerve from an NHK documentary program (Mind and Heart).
Sadamoto is also the one who lobbied for the "Evangelion" name even
though it had been rejected once. He argued that the then top
candidate "Alcion" (proposed by Anno) was not strong enough for a
robot series, and liked "Evangelion" because it included voiced
consonants.
> Indeed, that should be 13[th Angel], shouldn't it?
On second thought, NERV hid the existence of the bacteria-like Angel
that appeared during the power failure, so if Tabris is the 13th then
the NERV data and monitors might indicate that it was the 12th in
order to maintain the lie.
Then again, later in this stage there is a monitor image that shows
Eva-02 and the *17th* Angel breaking through the partitions. :P
Reference other post: And YES, Sadamoto does place Lilith as the 2nd.

I have always said that this is the correct interpretation. There is
no subject in the Japanese sentence which means that taken alone it
might be considered vague, but in combination with the following
sentence ("Because the soul of Eva-02 has shut itself away.") this is
the only interpretation that makes sense. The problem is that the
Literal Translation Project got it wrong, and then this mistake was
carried over to ADV's translation.
Think about it:
"If I did not have a soul, we could join, because the soul of this
unit has shut itself away."
Doesn't make sense, does it?
