No, but Sadamoto is the one with the burden of proving to be on par with an 
established work such as the tv series. And he has had some low points in the 
past, for example a somewhat unnecessary insistence in depicting the Shinji-Rei 
relationship in a hinting way, at about the same time when he conceded room to 
marketing by including the ugly double chainsaw in the story as a nod to the Eva 
2 game. Nevermind the unnecessary "let's show Rei naked again" bit with added 
Gendo-induced freak-out.

But, like I said, things have gotten back up to high standards. ^^
