I have not read the full magazine yet (just the part posted on the  
web), but I hardly think it will be a prequel because "The story  
timeline is the same as the 1995 TV series."

Given the "new settings and characters" and the completely redone  
storyline, I think anyone who expects a prequel, sequel or new  
conclusion to the original series will be very disappointed.  I will  
have to read the full magazine to be sure, but it sounds like a stand- 
alone work.

Call it "Eva-lite".
