Well, this is another great post, thank you M. It's nice to read stuff like
this. And of course, thank you for your translation work in the very first
place. :-)
I still have to re-read the whole translation myself, but from what I've
understood from my first reading, my opinion is that the writer, apart his
being biased, apart all his drama and stuff, still missed the whole point of
Eva, I mean the real point of the show, say a so-called 'former Otaku'
struggling to find his way out of inphancy loop (= not growing up). This is
a bit sad after all. 10 years after the Eva-drama-boom, honestly I could not
care less about who cutted what, butged and time restrains, whatever.
Eva is what it has been. That's the only Eva.
Just as the Shinji who piloted Eva is the only Shinji.
Who cares about what Eva could have been? That's just mental onanism.
Let's focus on the real meaning in the real show. That's a deep and way
actual meaning to me.
That's my simple point, and I think it's link of 'included in itslef', isn't
it?
As for the article, it seems just as it's reason-to-be is the final proof of
the complete non-understaing of Eva by the writer.
Anyway, quite an interesting topic for us all I guess!
Thanks again, M!
G.
