Well, desperate times require desperate measures.  Others and I have
commented that in the TV series, the characters are tested up to and
sometimes past the point of destruction.  But I'll note that Misato is
one of the few or only who dramatically improves as the pressure gets
ever higher, e.g. she goes off alcohol (and onto coffee).

By the time of EoE, and in parallel, we just don't see it, in TV 25-6,
there is no margin for error or sloppiness, we see her at her very best.

Note that we don't actually see more than a picture or so of the real
pre-HCP Misato in TV 25-6, so what she does in EoE can be entirely
consistent with the TV and driven by how dire things have gotten; could
the stakes be any higher???
