But the mere idea that people who
: go through what the cast of EVA does wouldn't say shit or fuck on
: occasion doesn't seem convincing to me, especially considering the
: series' general attempt at greater realism in character writing.
: There are literally rivers that flow red with blood in EVANGELION;
to
: say "but no potty-mouths" feels a little odd.

While I would expect that id James Cameron, Paul Verhoeven etc were
doing the film, & it was about English speaking people...

But my point is 1) wanting cleaner vocabulary to be consistent with
the English dialogue for the characters in ADV's Eva TV release
2) Translation without localization/western obscenity contamination.

Unfortunately sewer language is a Manga dub staple (going on the ME
titles I own) & the EoE dub studio seemed to have no consideration for
consistency or the same moderation ADV used. I liked Allison Keith as
Misato in the TV series, the reason I listened to Eva in English to
start with.

None of the fansubs of EoE I'd seen used the subtitle obscenity on its
DVD. I don't think the tone of Shinji's voice, his mood or his
character, as acted by Megumi Ogata, makes him seem like he's using
the f-word. Toji would have, not Shinji.
