also conceptually, since the beginning, and also having taken the task to 
clear up foggy matters in the tv series with the manga? Which pretty much 
eliminates your comments about "fake", not to mention that the manga 
actually started months *before* the tv series. Let's also not dwell into 
how superficial your analysis of the characters is, there's a ML archive to 
fish for that after all, and it's even pretty recent stuff if you care, not 
any older than last november/december. Looks like you really need it, you're 
reading into this manga things that are not there (SR romance, of all 
things).

By the way, as his career is chiefly that of an illustrator and character 
designer, you should look in that direction to find out what kept him busy 
all this time (besides the already explained sabbatical he took to redesign 
the direction he wanted to take the manga to after he found elements of his 
intended ending had been used by Anno in the movies - but let's just say he 
wants to pull some more "fake" out, right?), such as the neverending hack 
games saga.
