A short stage that again mostly follows EoE, but four months in a row  
it is.

Stage 77: The Final Enemy - Part II

Cover: Misato in seductive pose (black mini-skirt dress with Nerv  
jacket hanging off one shoulder) and pistol in hand

Lead-in text: The fight for survival begins...

Scene: JSSDF VTOL aircraft rise up over the remains of New-Tokyo 3  
and unleash a barrage of missiles at various Nerv installations on  
the hills ringing the crater-lake. Wheeled tanks lined up on nearby  
roads rotate their turrets and fire in unison to the accompaniment of  
missile launchers, and manned Nerv outposts disappear one after  
another in massive explosions.

Scene: Command Center - Alarms sound and remote monitoring screens  
change to static with only the text “SIGNAL LOST”
Nerv operator: Daikansan radar sites No. 8 to 17 have gone dead!!
Nerv operator: Tech battalion penetrating through Goura defense  
perimeter!
Nerv operator: Two battalions also approaching from the Gotemba  
direction!

Fuyutsuki: As expected, man's ultimate enemy is also man.
Gendo: (pause) General quarters. Go to Level-1 battle stations.
Maya (surprised): Battle stations...? But the enemy isn't an Angel...  
(troubled) They're human like us...
Makoto: But the enemy doesn't think that way.
(Gendo watches on impassively)

Scene: Alarms and announcements blare from a speaker in a semi- 
darkened break room where Shinji sits with lowered head and dropping  
shoulders.
Announcement: General quarters. Level-1 battle stations. Repeat.  
General quarters. Level-1 battle stations.
Shinji: Something's happening outside again... Battle stations... I  
have to get ready to pilot Eva. But, what should I do. My body just  
won't move... Misato...

Scene: Outside, explosions rip through the trees as the battle  
continues to rage. A Nerv security guard stands in front of shuttered  
gates talking on a phone unit.
Nerv guard: Yes, yes, so far nothing is out of the ordinary here.
(A JSSDF trooper rises silently behind the guard, clasps a hand over  
his mouth, and drives a knife deeply into his back.
Nerv guard: Ughh...
(The gates behind the two rise one after another, and squads of JSSDF  
troops in full battle dress rush inside.

Scene: More Nerv personnel guarding another entrance
Nerv guard 1 (on phone): Hey, what's going on!? Hey!
Nerv guard 2: Did something happen!?
Nerv guard 1: I don't know. The south terminal station-
(The truck behind the men rocks from the force of impact as two  
gaping holes open in its front, and the Nerv guards have a split  
second for shock/alarm to register before the truck explodes,  
destroying the entire entrance.)

Scene: Chaos in the Command Center
Nerv operator: Daigatake tunnel cut off!
Nerv operator: Fire at the West No. 5 freight entrance!
Nerv operator: Invading forces have entered the first level!
Misato: The forces attacking the west hall are a decoy!
Misato (to Makoto): Have Shinji stand by in Eva-01 immediately!
Makoto: Yes, sir!
Misato: Ensure Rei and Asuka's safety at once! If their true aim is  
the Evas, they'll go for the pilots first!

Scene: JSSDF trooper talking on phone unit while running
JSSDF officer (phone voice): Eva pilots are to be terminated on  
sight. Unconditional execution of (lit: firing on) non-combatants  
also authorized.
JSSDF trooper: Affirmative.

Scene: Shinji still sitting dejectedly in the break room...

Ending text: What will be Nerv's and people's fate...?
