An interesting take.  I can readily see how that would work.  That
said, I wonder how much of it was as a result of how Anno felt during
production, versus explicit planning.

As an aside, the themes of rejection, rebellion, and
subjugation/harmonisation of the human spirit have kinda been how I
have always viewed the show.  To me its akin to a passion play.
