[EVA] Eva Manga: Like? Dislike? (Was: No Stage this month)

I really don't understand what all of this Rei/Shinji usurping Asuka/Shinji
is all about. Sure, Rei and Shinji sat and held hands once, but have the
dynamics really changed that much? Sadamoto's adaptation of the kiss scene,
which so many people have been whining about, doesn't really kill off any
undertones in their relationship. Asuka has been just as hostile towards
Shinji as she was in the anime. If anything highlights the two characters
being "destined" to be with one another in the end, it's the way their
interactions and attitudes towards other people are, ironically, complete
contrasts. In all honesty, I think Sadamoto has captured this element
perfectly, especially with how he redid the hospital scene.

I will be very, very surprised if this manga doesn't end the same way EoE
did, with Shinji and Asuka on the beach. Keep in mind that there will still
be plenty of time for introspection between now and then. Honestly, I think
a lot of you guys are just desperate for something to argue about now, and
it's kind of sad that it's basically boiled down to character pairings.
