[EVA] Eva Manga: Like? Dislike? (Was: No Stage this month)

It isn't even clear to me that Shinji is capable of ending up with *anyone* in the anime. The fact Asuka shows him a gesture of pity (while evincing disgust) doesn't exactly suggest to me they're destined to be king and queen of the post-apocalyptic prom. I like to say that while the manga Shinji is just as negative, he's less of a creep, so perhaps he's got more of a chance.

By the way, when I say that Shinji is a creep, it's not a criticism of him (after all, he's written that way as a character), but rather an observation. Something about the Children that's so obvious it seems rarely remarked upon is that they're only fourteen years old, and moreover, very much under the control of others. It's much less fair to condemn their characters than it is that of Eva's old generations.
