Asuka was the first to return (after sometime, that is) after Shinji did.
She returned because she "imagined herself in her own heart", hence why
she's bandaged, those injures were the last thing she remembered from being
alive/before she died from the Eva Series killing "Mama" (lol Regression)
and her.
