[EVA] Eva Manga Stage 77 - Part 2

Hello everyone, I've been lurking on the mailing list for years, so I
figured I'd actually try to contribute something with my first post ;) I
doubt my translation is as good as M's, but hopefully people enjoy it.
If there's any part that seems weird, point it out and I'll see if I can
explain/retranslate it.

Shonen-Ace celebrates its 30th anniversary with the Eva manga restart as
well as a bundled Eva T-shirt. Sadamoto took such a long break, he must
have forgotten what stage we're on since we're back to Stage 77. Unless
there's some hidden directive that you're supposed to take the stage
number on the cover and add one to it...

Stage 77 Part 2: Genocide

Cover: Shinji walking through a corridor of Nerv, head pointed toward
the ground.

Lead-in text: Agonizing Shinji. Meanwhile, Rei is...

Scene: Rei is standing in a garden with a fountain and pool. She stares
in the water, her reflection broken by the fountain's current. As she
puts her hand in the water, she turns her head at the sounds of war.

Scene: JSSDF soldiers advance through the corridors of Nerv. The
explosions of missiles fill the air as the soldiers continue to gun down
Nerv personnel while facing little retaliation. JSSDF aircraft can also
be seen maneuvering through the base.

Scene: Command Center
Nerv operator: Shutting all partitions!
Nerv operator: Non-combatant personnel, please take shelter in Passage 87.
Nerv operator: Underground partition #3 destroyed!
Nerv operator: The second layer has been penetrated.
Misato: What about Asuka?!
Hyuga: She's in Room 303. Group 4 is guarding her.
Misato: Ok, but get her into Unit-2!
Maya: But she's in no condition to pilot an Eva!
Misato: If she stays where she is, she will definitely be killed. The
inside of an Eva is the best place to protect her.
Misato: Once you have her in, hide her in the undergound lake. She'll be
found quickly, but it's still better than the cage.
Maya: Roger!
Makoto: Cutting the pilot's med support. Unit-2 ready for launch.
Misato: What about Shinji and Rei?
Hyuga: We cannot confirm their location. Both of them are showing up as
missing.
Misato: Hurry up and track them down! At this rate, they'll be killed.

Scene: Fuyutsuki and Gendo watching the panels
Fuyutsuki: Invaded by the the JSSDF...occupation is only a matter of
time I suppose.
Gendo: Yes, the time has come.

Scene: Nerv passageway. A group of personnel raising their hands in
surrender are gunned down by JSSDF soldiers. Explosions and destruction
rampant.

Scene: Command Center
Nerv operator: Group 2, no response, communication with Computer Room 77
has been lost.
Hyuga: Linear Rail #52 has been blown up.
Makoto: This doesn't look good. Even the apostles had it better.
Misato (thinking): That's very possible. No one here is used to killing
people.
Hyuga: Pilot loading complete! Launching Unit-2!
*Scene of Unit-2 launching, Asuka asleep inside.
Makoto: Her destination is set for 70 meters underwater via route 8.
Misato: You still haven't found Shinji?! We need to hurry up and launch
Unit-1.
Hyuga: We found the location of the pilot of Unit-1!
*Shinji sitting under a stairwell, head buried in his knees.
Misato (with a shocked face): Why of all the places is he still...
Makoto: Route 47 has already been broken into! At this rate, Shinji will...
Misato: Oh my god...

Scene: Gendo and Fuyutsuki, Gendo gets ready to leave
Gendo: Fuyutsuki, I'm leaving the rest to you.
Fuyutsuki: I got it. Give my regards to Yui.
*Gendo clutches his hand.
Gendo (while removing his glove): Heh, to pick this of all places to appear.
*An eye grafted in his hand.
Gendo: Because the most hideous part is to its liking it seems.

Scene: Nerv personnel dragging her comrade down a corridor, but promptly
gunned down by a soldier.

Scene: Command Room
Hyuga: Invaders in the third layer.
Maya: We can't defend.
Hyuga: There are even some coming in from F-block. The main bypass is
being attacked.
Misato: Seal off the third layer! Fill all the passages and pipes up to
section 803 with bacalite!
*Scene of passages being filled with bacalite.
Misato (while arming a gun): With this, we should be able to hold them
off for at least a little while.
Misato: Tell all non-combatants to avoid direct combat as much as
possible. If they can't retreat to central dogma, it's better to surrender.
Misato (to Makoto): Sorry, I'll leave the rest to you.
Makoto: Yes, sir.

Scene: Shinji sitting under a stairwell.
Shinji (Thinking to himself): Gunfire, explosions, the enemy's made it
all the way inside. If I stay like this, not going to the Eva, I wonder
how things will turn out. I wonder if everyone will die. Ayanami, Asuka,
Misato, Father, me... If I stay like this and don't do anything,
everything will be over. Well, that's fine. I'm tired. I just don't want
to do anything anymore.

Scene: Soldier walks up, pointing a gun at Shinji.

Ending text: Shinji, discovered by an invader...does this mean certain
death?!
