I'm not optimistic; as I said, it looks as if the English Mainichi
Daily News was online only - no page numbers, and I found no mention
in my library's listing of Mainichi publications of any English print
runs. Harvard has good libraries, but libraries maintaining archives
of electronic publications are very rare and novel.
You really would be best off asking Mainichi for copies, or with your
academic credentials, you can probably beg the Internet Archive for
the copies we know they have - which has the advantage that definitely
they speak English!

On an aside, I think I've figured out why I couldn't find the
robots.txt that the Internet Archive is presumably honoring: they also
retroactively block if someone contacts them directly:
