Whatever the case, probably can't be used as solid evidence.  Nonetheless, the argument is still pretty strong without it.

It was, here and on the evageeks forum. I've looked at the email
thread a few times, and while Tsurumaki did say something like that,
he is described as (and clearly is) flustered and caught off-guard and
just making up something on the spur of the moment. So I repose zero
confidence in that quote as saying anything important.
