The original Genesis 0:12 VHS that ADV released includes the original next episode preview which was mostly storyboards and rough sketches because series production had already started to fall way behind schedule. 

All the next episode previews were replaced for the home video release in Japan. ADV used those versions for episodes 1-20, but because their contract did not include the revised footage for the home video release explicitly, and because ADV didn't want to wait for Gainax to finish the revised episodes and lose release momentum, they then switched to the TV masters for episodes 21-26. When ADV got the rights to do the revised episodes, that presumably also included the revised next episode preview, which they then used on the DVD.

However, I was under the impression that the current DVD release ADV has includes both versions of the next episode previews. Was I mistaken?
