If I had to guess, it's that the trans-Canada distribution was easier  
to set up and finalize than the U.S. one. I'm sure we'll see more  
U.S. cities announced before too long. We should also reflect that in  
the current economy, it's an achievement in of itself to have a  
limited theatrical release for an anime. I notice that The Sky  
Crawlers didn't get even the art theater tour of a Paprika, or  
Oshii's previous film, Innocence.
