[EVA] Anime Expo disbands

It's mind-boggling to think that fewer than 3,000 people attended Anime Expo '96...yet the guests included:

the director of Evangelion
plus the director of Ghost in the Shell
plus the director of Macross

Not to mention: the mecha designer of Gunbuster, the character designer of Otaku no Video, and the opening and ending credits artist of Royal Space Force. By contrast with today, at AX '96 there were only two voice actors as guests (both Japanese), and no musical acts.
