Most would describe this moment as a forewarning of things to come. In
other words, old Hideaki is trying to mess with our minds again. Of
course, I've occasionally subscribed to the theory that we see not one, but
two Rei's walking around throughout the series.... Reis II and III
wandering around, taking each others place when need be. Now that would be
the kind of mind-messing opportunity I feel Anno may have missed whilst
making the show.

I'm no fan of dubs, so I'll back you up against the dub-lovers. One of the
lamest defences I've heard for dubs is that subtitles damage picture
quality.... Dubs damage the intellect. Oops, get in trouble again if I go
much further along that line of inquiry ^_^. Anyways, despite the best
efforts of many of the dubbing studios, I find that the whole delivery of
the dub actors to be stilted, and the translations to be neutered of their
cultural baggage. Maybe thats what I dislike about dubs.... They almost
cease to be Japanese... Oh well, I'll think up a thesis explaining this
one day.
