[EVA] sub or dub

Speaking of the 3 different generations, I was wondering... are we seeing
three pseudo-love triangles in the making?  This is just rampant
speculation on my part, but:

1. Gendou, Yui, and Ritsuko's mother (is her "Gendou, you idiot" message
the words of a jilted lover?).
2.  Misato, Ritsuko, and Kaji.
3.  Shinji, Asuka, and Rei.

Of course, Shinji and Rei haven't shown any signs of falling in love as far
as I've seen (ep. 16)... but still, the pattern of 1 guy and 2 girls... a
repressed fantasy by the director?
