>So it seems that viewers are clamouring for sadness, not happiness.
>Do they derive happiness from watching the sadness of others? If so,
>mankind is SICK.
Mankind is not sick.
>Or is it a reflection of the innate qualities that everyone is not at all
>and wanted to share their sadness with everyone.
More like it.
>Or is just a fad where viewers think they are more mature and not childish
>by watching shows depicting sadness.
What would you rather watch, a show where everything happens nicely and
happily, or one where there is at least some exploration of sadness?
Let me put in this way : I think fiction with angst (not necessarily
angst-ridden) is much more interesting. People tend to relate more to
characters with problems..it strikes a chord of sympathy somewhere. Final
Fantasy 3, if anyone's played this, if a great example.
