Pity, then, that the majority of the victims of the dickheads who joined
the early Crusades were Christians living in the area themselves.  Its what
you get when an immoral religious nut rounds up an army of uneducated
peasants and runs rampant into the "holy lands" without any thought as to
whether the people there were Christian or not.

They, of course, rapidly fell prey to Saladin and his Saracens.  So when
news that those who had gone over to "liberate" the holy lands from the
Muslims had been defeated, then things started to get serious.  Course, the
Saracens continued to have the upper hand until Richard appeared on the scene.
