## Seriously, I don't belive in that. I won't go into details here. But
## all different kinds of Inquisition (not just the Spanish one) burnt
## at stake at least hundreds, if not thousands, of people. One reason
## why Inquisition might account for so small a number of deaths had
## actually mainly to do with the law. The Inquisition turned the accused
## to the secular court, which then handed out the punishment. Another
## reason was the number of death because of torture was barely counted.
## Sometimes executions were not counted as contributed by the official
## Inquisition, but the trials were conducted by priests and the accused
## crime was because of apparently religous reason (e.g. witchcraft). 

## Let me ask: Was the death of Joan d"Arc caused by Inquisition? How
## about the torture and mass execution of the Hosiptaller Order? 

## I think there're just too many people who died because of the institutions
## that fanned the bigotry (not to say hatred and greed) on the ground of 
## religion during Medieval Europe.
