<< I think the reason is that Gundam is not that suitable for a broad
audience, w/ militarism and psychological situations (EVA predecessor?)
All the Gundam (original, not Wing) fans that I know of are mostly adults,
this is chiefly the reason why TVB hesitated to buy the series, but they
showed them eventually which is extremely lucky.

 ## Really? Why did they buy Space Battleship Yamato then?
 ## I always find it a bit funny that they changed the name from "Yamamto"
 ## to "Peace" when they dubbed the series in Cantonese.
 ## A lot of animators in Japan are pretty much into military stuff:
 ## Reiji Matsumoto and Miyazaki are some very good examples. >>

Gundam can get very depressing, such as in the 0080 OVA. But its still great.
People around here (in my AO, I mean,)mostly like anime thats fairly light.
Evangelion is the one exception, and its the only "serious" anime that the
Rutgers anime club has shown. Gundam is perhaps too serious for some people.
Char's Counterrattack is probably the Gundam equivalent of EOE. Everyone
died, and the main characters "disappeared." Anyway, it just seems classic
mecha war movies are "dead" now. ITs a shame.
