Adam was the first angel, which if I'm not mistaken is what the Eva's
are based on. I don' think that they are trying to get to the Eva, they
are trying to worm their way into to the terminal dogma where they think
that Adam is stored.  Tha angels know that if they can defeat the Eva's
then nothing will stand in their way in unifiying with Lilith.  The
angels aren't trying to get Adam back, they want to unify with him so
that they can return to a state of perfect existence.  The angels think
that this can be achieved through unification with Adam, since he was
the first.
