[EVA] Gendou Must Die

What most people seem to neglect is the fact that Gendou lost his wife
after they had been married for 3-4 years. With no illness, nothing like
that. Now, that seems like it would be really hard on anyone. Gendou
seemed to take it harder than most. (Destroying / sending away) anything
that would remind him of Shinji.
