=> IMHO, I don't think Shinji would fight better. IIRC, Shinji agreed to
pilot EVA-01 to leave a good impression of him on his father. If Gendou
decided to hold a banquet every time Shinji defeats an Angel, Shinji would
lose this motivation to please Gendou.
