Well, I don't know if the appearences of EVAs are based on those demon
gods aforementioned, but I've read from somewhere that Gainax designed the
EVAs based on "oni", the Japanese legendary demons (The ones that are
usually red and blue and hold clubs as weapons).  Gotta go, Ja.
