If I remeber correctly, Asuka was born in the United States, but moved to
Germany when she was young, so her parents could work for the German
branch of NERV.
A ship known as the "Juipter" was renamed the Langley, converted into
the first US Aircraft Carrier (CV 1), and served as a carrier from 1922 to
1937. The US Navy has a short history of early aircraft carriers at
