Nah...I still stick to my theory that Gainax wanted to see their voice 
actrice squirm and sweat bullets when reading the script.  Give them 
all a laugh, they need it.  :)

## the voices of the character, be it a foreigner or turned into an
## animal. So Miyamura-san got to speak German in her own tongue,
## no dubbing. As for why Gainax wrote the script with German inside.
## Simply because they wanted to impress the Japanese audience with
## some German. That's exactly why you only saw her speak in German
## only sparingly. I would bet that >99.5% of the audience do not
## know any German, and most of them do not speak English. They should
## be easily impressed by the German they heard in the anime. I would
## dare to say that most of the staff in Gainax were quite satisfied
## with the German they heard! I don't think Gainax meant to give
## the seiyuu a particularly hard time
