Hmm interesting mix of topics........

Ok so I'm a few days behind with the questions ( slipped disk forcing a 3
day no move policy) :((

Penpen was described as an early experiment rescued by Misato in volume 2
of the manga.  This throws up the big question of whether this reason was
Sadamoto's or Anno's.

Question time, cast your minds back to ep.1. Shinji trying to use the phone
as the Angel makes an appearance. He turns round and sees a schoolgirl in
the mid distance, turns round, looks again and she's gone. The figure looks
like Rei and I'm bloody sure it's Rei, but she isn't injured. Does this
mean Gendou has 2 Rei's on the go at once ( lucky devil  ), is it Rei III,
or just one of those stunts Anno pulls to mess with your mind ?

Finally, I confess to being a die hard sub fan, so unsurprisingly the dub
copy of 0:1 a friend got left me a little unimpressed. Before all the dub
fans form a  lynch mob, yes there are some good dubs  out there, such as El
Hazard, but the EVA dub misses the boat. As a generalisation the dialogue
seems stilted, with less emotional emphasis placed compared with the
original Japanese dialogue. Specifically Shinji, the kid is a mix of
emotions waiting for release, unfortunately as has been mentioned  he
sounds more like a 30 year old doing a (bad) young voice. I shudder to
think what they've done to Rei ( personal favourite :) ).
