The worst thing about that is Ritsuko's treatment of the dead Rei II. >>

 ## Well, she is business-like, right? Look at her matter-of-fact comment
 ## in her reaction to the disgust shown by Misato when she learnt who
 ## the 4th children is.

Ep 23 is pretty depressing. When it seems Rei II has become fully human, she
blows herself and the 16th angel to kingdom comes.

## When there are quite a lot of depressing episodes, although they are
## not as depressing as Ep23. The ep when Touji lost one leg. The ep
## when Kaji was killed. The ep when Shinji was forced to lob off
## Kaworu's head.. and even the ep when Shinji ran away...

Listen to Thanatos on the 2cnd soundtrack.

## Oh, that music!! I think it's the best BGM in EVA!! I didn't relate
## it to death when I first listened to it (I got the soundtrack before
## I saw that ep. and I didn't know what "Thanatos" means). I thought
## it is a very beautiful and melancholic music. The rising scale at
## the latter part of the BGM is really sublimatory, made me feel like
## I am ascending to a higher level of existence... And later I learnt
## that it's realted to Rei's death. I think the music is really the
## manifestation of "der suesse Tod" (the sweet death). A music from
## the heaven.

Asuka gets a bit of glory in EoE, but died fighting. At least she got
her skills back, right?

## Hey! Who said she *died* fighting? I didn't see her die. I didn't hear
## her die. EVA-02 is dead, that's true, but I don't think that means
## Auska was dead. But anyway, that was a pretty traumatic experience for
## her, perhaps dismantling her pride in the process?
