[EVA] {Spoiler?] Question

Hey all...

I just finished watching ADV's Genesis 0:4, and there was one thing
that bugged me. In the 7th episode ('A Human Creation', IIRC), there
was that bit where EVA-01 was dropped from a plane to chase after the
runaway JA robot so that Misato could try to stop it. The thing is,
EVA-01 wasn't powered by the umbilical cable, but Shinji didn't seem
concerned about the 5 minute time limit. Furthermore, wasn't the limit
decreased to 1 minute if the EVA is engaged in rigourous activity?
It seemed that the rescue took well over a minute (not sure if over
5 min) but the EVA was still running.

Any ideas?
