Hey, no one answered to my post on this! I will have to post more. ^_^

>I am not very *up* on German writers and It will be great if you can
>point out a few so I can check it out at later time.

Herman Hesse? Though it's not that likley; his books were more full of a
personal search for self.

>Now, C. Jung is a entirely different game. Without getting into too much
>gruesome details, I don't see a lot of connections with Jung's writing
>and his teaching that is related to Eva (maybe Gareth as a Psy. major
>can tell us all more about Jung). Jung does has some interesting

I was looking forward to that, actually. ^_^

>theories (note: not laws or principle that is proven) about collective
>consciousness and soul-out-of-the-physical existence ideas. Also, I
>disagree with you that Jung is a scientist--his stuff is not very
>scientific. ;)

Metaphysics? There's definitely a lot of that in EVA. But since I haven't
read Jung (his books are simply murderous) I'll leave this open until a more
reliable source comes along. ^_^

>Note: Jung was very popular during the 60s' hippies era. Currently,
>there are some psycho therapist still practice using Jung's theories.
>Also, Jung still have a very strong cult following in US. Kinda scary
>actually.

About the only thing I actually remember of Jung is his archetype theory,
which frankly I don't see a trace of in EVA.

>Albert Camus? Not directly related to Evangelion, but the existentialist
>theme is very strong in the story. As you might know Albert Camus is one
>of the point person of existentialist. I enjoy reading his essays and
>novels a lot.

So THAT was it! Thanks, George, for reminding me. ^_^ Yes, Camus is a likley
possibility.

>>He's became quite well known, as having won once the Nobel award (was
>that
>>for poetry?) in the 50s if I remember well. He wrote one of his books

I don't think Camus wrote poetry, more books and essays.

>Hum....spiritual enlightenment is dangerous? That is if you find Jung's
>work inspiring. ;)

Enlightenment is a 13-letter word. ^_^

>Just curious, what do you think the angles' mission is? I personally
>have no opinion on that. I tends to think that they are trying to stop
>the third impact by just taking back Lilith.

I think they were trying to test humanity, and the EVA represented
humanity's best against them. More on this theory later.

>Very true. Agree with you on those points, *but* we're not truly
>complimented on this ML since we still have our different opinions. ;)

Complementation CAN be a sum of different parts, ne? ^_^

I am myself. This object is I. The figure that forms me."

The ways of nature and of life are strange and deep. They are not to be
understood. In the midst of angers and of wars love's secret work goes on,
and binds us all by blood, and this, whether love is denied or bestowed. -
