Well, ep. 21 is basically the only one that really touches on the past,
so they had to use a lot of that, and well, in the Asuka section, they
seemed to want to focus more on the "true" Asuka, and that basically
involves focusing on her during and after her breakdown. (as well as the
evil flashbacks) :(  So, that's ep. 22 and on for the most part...

Short scene.  Interesting.  Have no idea where it fits into chronology.
As soon as you hear the slap, you hear Shinji yelling (!) at Asuka (!!)
about how she needs to accept the fact that Kaji is gone. (!!!) Then we
see her face for a second, (she looks very sad) and she says that it
can't be true.
