[EVA] Religion?

Why do you we keep on the topic of inferring religion into EVA? All 
this discussion about religious symbolism is making my head hurt. It 
hurts even more when I think that someone (Anno) actually did this on 
purpose. IMHO, there is really no religious symbolism. 

The Dead Sea Scrolls, the Lance of Longinus, Adam, and EVA are just 
names given to these items. 

True, some religious symbols are evident, but maybe Anno needed some 
names and picked these ones. 

BTW, if an EVA comes in contact with Lillith and causes the 3rd 
impact, then why can Rei put the Lance in Lillith and not cause it.
