[EVA] [spoiler?] "true" meaning of title? first, third impacts?

my friend and i have been spending chemistry class very productively.
as our teacher rambled on incessantly, we came upon a few theories:

1)
the title:

first off, i ask you, why of all the elements on the periodic table, did 
they choose Neon?

was it because- of the strange prfix it provides?
                (does it suggest that this is the documentation of a                 
second, or "next" Genesis?
     
                is it in fact a "Neo"-Genesis?

or-  does the fact that Neon is used in the title have a strange yet      
eerie connection to the fact that Neon is the 10th element?

     play along with me here-  you see, Neon (Ne) is the tenth           
element.  this appears to be meaningless.  but, if you take           
into account that Neon is element #10, and i believe that             
Shinji himself killed 10 angels <-- correct me if i'm wrong,           
here 

     count all of the angels that had a so-called "body", but not a      
human body or an EVA as a host, if that number is ten, or if          
Shinji himself was involved in their destructiion of the ten          
which i think should remain, then there's a reason for Neon being      
used in the title.

look:

there are a total of 18 angels:

of these, Shinji personally kills 10.
(>he< does not kill the first three angels)  18-3=15
(Shinji didn't kill the "virus" that infected the Magi) 14
(the big orange one, that dropped its AT-Field) 13
(the one that infected Toji, and Unit 3) <-- it was Shinji's "dummy       
plug".  12
(and the 15th angel was killed by Rei, and the Spear of Longinus) 11
(also Shinji doesn't kill the angel from the 10th tape, because the 
power goes out) 10.

(Asuka kills the embryonic one from "Magma Diver" with Shinji's Prog 
Knife) so, technically the total stays at 10.

is this viable?

what about the >FIRST< IMPACT?
there must have been a FIRST IMPACT in order for there to be a SECOND, 
let yet alone a THIRD IMPACT!

was the FIRST impact the meteor that killed off the dinosaurs?
see that the first impact, if it did kill the dinosaurs, killed the 
dinosaurs, making mankind the dominant species.  the SECOND impact 
failed, because of our technology, which was >EVIL<, yet effective.  the 
SECOND and THIRD impacts both were to irradicate the human race, which 
was allowed to reach its status by the FIRST IMPACT.

and, the series comes full circle, with the completion of the THIRD 
IMPACT, where and when the human race is finally wiped off the face of 
the earth.  (with two exceptions).

also, this wipes out all connections to the bible, and eliminating the 
religion factor, keeping some people i know happy.
