Author's notes before reading. This is my first attempt at writing a
Evangelion fan-fiction and the time line and the characters where slightly
changed to fit in the story. The story takes place after episode 18 so you
might need to see that episode or to that point to understand the story.
There my be some wording and miss spelled words but I promise you not many.

The Mother I Never  Knew  I Had \ A Mother's Love For Her Child

The morning sun rises slowly as it does everyday, as beams of light chase
the darkness of the night away as calmness and tranquillity comes over the
fortress city of Tokyo-3. The sun's rays penetrate the darkness as a unseen
evil approaches the city. The Children sleep silently in their beds as the
calm winds blow leaves from the trees to the street below. The morning sun
soon rises to a beautiful dawn as the citizens of Tokyo-3 awakes from their
sleep to start the morning as they always do. The subways and trains are the
first to start as engineers report in for duty. The striking of a bell can
be heard in the background as school children emerge from their homes to
start the commute to school.
The morning sun soon reaches a young boy by the name of Shinji Ikari as he
wakes to start cooking breakfast for him and his roommates and to finish the
homework he did not finish last night. In the next room a tired yet cheerful
Misato wakes to start the day like she always does with beer. Asuka was
still asleep as she tossed and turned in her sleep dreaming about the time
she witnessed Unit-1's Berserker form.
The smell of food cooking soon fills the apartment as Misato walks into the
kitchen and asked Shinji what he was cooking. Shinji only smiled and asked
Misato to tell Asuka he was leaving early for school. Misato only looks at
Shinji with a puzzled look because this was odd for Shinji. Shinji soon
finished his cooking and hands Misato her plate of breakfast and started to
gather his things for school and was already out the door when Asuka walked
into the kitchen to see Misato eating her breakfast and her plate already on
the table. Soon Asuka was sitting at the table eating her breakfast when
Misato tells her that Shinji had already left. Asuka in a strange way
thanked Misato for telling her and soon finished her breakfast and started
to get dress for school.
On the other side of Tokyo-3, Rei was already on her way to school as the
early morning train from Tokyo-2 arrived at the station. On the platform a
tall, dark haired boy, in a traditional Japanese school uniform steps off
the train onto the platform. The boy was greeted by NERV security personal
as he placed the first step on the platform. The men quickly escorted the
boy to their car. Soon the car was on its way to the mountains that
surrounded Tokyo-3. The car soon made it to the cliff highways of the
mountains as the car quickly turns onto a side street and heads for a
deserted airfield used by NERV for Evangelion deployments and deliveries of
the parts for them as well. Soon the car turned into a hanger that was
filled with post Second Impact aircrafts and other planes from a time long
since forgotten. The car soon came to a stop as the two men quickly opens
their doors and one of the men opens the door for the boy, while the other
man walked to the center of the hanger. The man at the center of the hanger
crouches on one knee and opens a small hidden panel as the other man waits
at the boy's side. Soon the other man signals them to come over where he was
at. The man and the boy walks towards the other man as a elevator rises from
the dust covered floor of the hanger. Soon both men was at the boy's side as
the elevator stops and the doors opens to reveal Commander Ikari. Both men
solutes him as the boy looks at the Commander. Soon the Commander spoke.
 "I see that you brought the real 5th Child here safely."
As the Commander finished his sentence the two men escorted the boy into the
elevator. The doors soon closed and the elevator soon started downward
towards the sub Geo-Front. The elevator stopped and the doors opens as the
Commander slowly exited the elevator.
 "Take him to Doctor Akagi." ordered Commander Ikari
 "Yes, Sir !" said the two men as the doors closed and the elevator started
down again. The boy looks at the two men as they stood beside him silently,
soon the doors opens again to reveal a tall, slim, blond haired woman  dress
in a black mini skirt with a blue blouse underneath a lab coat. The woman
stood in front of them as she looked at some papers in her hand and had not
notice that the elevator's doors was open. The woman look up for a moment
and walked into the elevator. The doors closes behind her as she turns
around to look at the doors, then looks at the boy and the two men and
greeted the boy with a friendly hello and how are you.
 "I'm fine." The boy said as Doctor Akagi looks at some papers in her hand
and tells him that he is the 5th and last Child to be chosen for the special
E-Project. The boy was confused as Doctor Akagi hands him a sheet of paper.
On the paper was the words "EVANGELION UNIT-03 REVISED ED." and below those
bold black words was the words "PILOT: 5TH CHILD  SHANE PARDUE."
 "I see that you were not aware of the decision that you were to be a Eva
Pilot." Doctor Akagi said with a sad tone of voice.
Shane looks at the paper in disbelief as the elevator's doors open and him
and Doctor Akagi exits the elevator.
 "Doctor Akagi?"
 "Call me Ritsuko."
 "O.K. Ritsuko, why was I chosen for this?" Asked Shane as they walk down
together down a well lighted hallway.
 "The reason that you was chosen for the E-Project or Evangelion Project was
the fact that you was born after the Second Impact and that you have a
special purpose in your life to pilot a Evanglion to fight the creatures we
call Angels." Ritsuko explained as they reached a door.
Ritsuko opens the door and Shane walks in, to see rows of control panels
with a huge window at the bottom of the rows. The window showed the head of
Unit-3, Shane looked in amazement as the door shut behind Ritsuko.
 "This is the main reason that you was chosen, to pilot and fight the Angels
in the newly rebuilt Unit-3." Said Ritsuko as she walked down towards where
Shane was standing at. Ritsuko looks at Shane as he looked at the jet black
head of Unit-3.
 "Ritsuko I have a question." Said Shane as he touched the glass with his
fingers.
 "What's your question?" Asked Ritsuko as she puts on her glasses.
 "I was wondering why do you say rebuilt when you mention Unit-3?"
 "The reason is the original version of Unit-3 was destroyed in a battle
with one of the Evangelions when it was taken over by a Angel when we where
activating it with the 4th Child." Explained Ritsuko as a slight tear fell
from her eye to her cheek.
 "I'm sorry, I should have never brought it up." Said Shane as he started
from the door.
 "That's all right Shane." Said Ritsuko as she started to follow Shane to
the door.
Far above the Geo-Front, at the local school it was lunch time and everyone
was having lunch except Shinji.
 "What's wrong Shinji ?" Asked Kensuka as he finished his lunch and placed
the garbage into the plastic bag that was tied to the railing of the roof.
 "I have a problem that I cannot figure out."
 "What's the problem, Shinji ?"
 "The problem is that I am in love." Confessed Shinji in a regrettable tone.
Kensuka was stunned to hear Shinji talking about his love life, but he took
the opportunity to wonder who it was that Shinji was in love with.
 "Let me guess who it is, is it Ayanami."
Shinji only looked at him for a moment before telling him that he was wrong
as Kensuka looked at him with amazement.
 I thought for sure it would e Ayanami thought Kensuka to himself.
Kensuka began to think harder on who Shinji might love then it came to him
it was Hikari the class representative, so he asked Shinji if it was her,
but Shinji only again said it was not her. Kensuka once again thought and
then came to the unreal and scary conclusion that it was Asuka. Kensuka
trying to get the thoughts out of his head asked Shinji who it was that he
was in love with. Shinji only started to blush as he said in a soft tone of
voice that it was Asuka he had fallen in love with.
 "That's great Shinji." Said Kensuka before the words hit his brain and then
the name Asuka hit.
 "What, how can you love her, of all the people." Said a shock Kensuka as he
almost fell off the roof.
 "I don't know why I love her, but every time I see her my heart aches for
her, even when she yells at me I still love her."
Kensuka only looked at Shinji in disbelief as he remembers that she loves
Kaji. The bell soon rang to signal that lunch was over.
Shinji and Kensuka started to walk down the stairs from the roof to go back
to class when a black car drove up the school's drive way. The car came to a
stop in front of the school and the passenger's doors opens to reveal Shane
in his new school uniform.
 "You will report to the Geo-Front this evening for a activation test." The
Driver explained as he handed Shane a small envelope with the words "Welcome
to NERV" written on the front.
 "The envelope has all the papers to get you past security when you reach
NERV HQ and a map of the facility if you get lost." Said the Driver as he
closed the passenger's door.
The car races off towards the city as Shane looks at his new school with a
depressing look, for this was the third school he has been transferred to in
a month. Shane soon walks up the stairs to the front entrance and into the
lobby of the school. Shane notices other students running to get back to
their class before the second bell rings. Shane follows them with his eyes
when a girl caught his eye. The girl was standing beside some stairs that
seems to go into the main building. The girl had short light greyish blue
hair that stopped a little short of her uniform's caller and she seemed to
be observing him as she started to walk towards him.
 "Hello, my name is Rei Ayanami. What is yours?" Rei asked as she stands in
front of Shane.
 "Shane Pardue" Said Shane as the bell rang  in the background.
 "I was sent her to greet the new student and to show you to your class
until you are more familiar with the school's lay out."
 "Please follow me." Said Rei as she started to walk off.
Shane followed Rei up a flight of stairs and down a deserted hallway until
they came to class 2-A. Rei opens the door as the old teacher was telling
the class about the history of the Second Impact and how he had to leave his
hometown because of rising flood waters. Rei walks in as the teacher notices
her and the new student.
 "Well it's about time a new student arrived." Said the old Teacher as he
stared at Shane.
Shane slowly walks into the classroom as the students watches from their
desk.
 "Class this is your new classmate Shane Pardue from the United States. I
hope you will help him to feel welcome in this new country and school."
Explained the Teacher as he searches for a empty desk for Shane.
 "You can sit behind Ayanami for now" Said the teacher as he resumed his
lesson.
Later in the day the last bell rang and the students were ready to leave for
the exception of the students that had to stay and clean. Other students
were assigned bulletin duty for the absent students. Shinji and Kensuka was
on bulletin duty as  Asuka and Hikari was on clean up duty for the week.
Outside the school on a small bench, Shane was sitting feeling home sick,
when Rei walks up behind him.
 "Oh, it's you Ayanami." Said Shane as she slowly walked to the bench and
sat down.
 "What are you thinking about?"
 "I was thinking about how much I miss my home in the United States, that's
all Ayanami"
 "Please call me Rei"
 "Rei, do you ever have that feeling of home sickness, what am I saying you
are home." Said Shane as he look up at the sky.
 "Home is where the soul can be at peace."
 "Well I just don't have one soul to think about." Shane said as he now look
at the clouds that started to form above.
 "Do you have a brother or sister ?" Asked Rei as she started to look at the
sky with Shane.
 "I have two older sisters, Brandy and Kim." Said Shane as he turned his
head to look at Rei. Rei did the same as both of them made eye contact for
the first time. Rei slightly blush as she turned her head away for a moment
then look at Shane again. Rei started to get up when she asked Shane a
sudden question.
 "Doctor Akagi is waiting for you at NERV headquarters, would you like to
walk with me there?"
Shane was shock be this question for he had not reveal  that he was a Eva
pilot, but said "Sure, Rei".
In NERV headquarters, NERV Technicians and Doctor Akagi was preparing Unit-3
for its first human activation test.
 "Use of the dummy plug with Ayanami's and Ikari's personal data looks fine
for the exception of the synchronization percentage is about five percent
off the real pilots, but there seems to no problems in activating Unit-3."
 "Thank you Maya." Said Ritsuko as she took a sip of her coffee and looked
at the head of Unit-3.
 "We are finished with the connections" Said a voice of a technician over
the intercom in the control room.
 "When is Unit-3's prolong activation test today?" Commander Ikari asked as
he watched a floor video screen in one of the operations rooms.
 "It will be held at 19 hundred hours, Sir." Misato explained as she watches
the screen as Unit-3 is moved into the Activation Chamber.
 "The 5th Child will pilot the Eva for the activation test and be the
designated pilot of Unit-3 as well." Explained Misato as the screen switched
to multiple views in the Activation Chamber.
On a street close to a entrance to the Geo-Front, Shane and Rei was standing
in front of a security door.
 "Rei how did you know I was a Evangelion pilots?"
 "It is common practice for NERV to send new Eva Pilot to the same school to
watch over other and to keep the identity of a new pilot a secret until a
Angel attacks." Rei explained Rei as she put her security card into the card
slot. The door opened as a gush of cold air escaped underneath the opening
door. Rei walked though the door as Shane followed her in. A express train
soon stopped in front of Rei. The train's doors opened as a woman's voice
came over the PA system.
 "This train is for NERV personal only, any non-personal will be fined and
detained for questioning."
As the voice repeated itself as Rei and Shane boarded the train. A loud
gushing sound was heard as the train began to move downward to the
Geo-Front. Shane watched as the train moved through the red tunnel, then a
bright light filled the train. Shane looked out of the window with amazement
for they had reached the Geo-Front. The beauty of the Geo-Front over came
Shane as the train headed for the pyramid shape headquarters of NERV.
Soon the train reached the internal platform in NERV headquarters. The
train's doors opened as Rei stepped  off with Shane following behind her to
another door. Rei used her key card to open the door as a cloud of mist
escaped from the door. She proceeded into a brightly lit room that resembled
in size a giant mall's food court. Rei walked onto a escalator as Shane
cautiously walked into the giant room for the first time.
 "You need to keep up or you will get lost, for it is easy for people that
has not gotten use to the lay out." Rei said as she look over her should at
Shane.
Shane rushed to get on the escalator for that was the last thing he wanted.
The escalator came to a large door that opened to reveal a smaller room.
 "Doctor Akagi is waiting for you in the Activation Chamber." Rei said as
she  steps off the escalator and waited for Shane at the bottom of the
escalator. Both Shane and Rei walked through a brightly lit hallway until
they came to a door with the words "Activation Chamber Control Room" on it.
The door opened as Rei approached it. In the room stood Ritsuko and Maya as
they look though the glass at the Eva.
 "Doctor Akagi I have brought Shane as you requested."
 "Thank you Rei. I see that you have to get use to the lay out of this
place." Ritsuko said  as she turned to face Rei and Shane. Ritsuko began to
walk towards Shane and Rei when Maya handed her a high pressure storage
case. Ritsuko handed the case to Shane as Shane look at it for a moment and
began to open it.
 "What's in the case, Ritsuko?"
 "In the case you will find your plug suit and a set of brain transmitters
and receivers." Said Ritsuko as she lend over to one of the control
operators to tell the Commander that they are ready to started the test.
 "You can change in the next room." Whispered Maya as she smiled at Shane.
Shane walked out of the control room and in to the next room. The room
looked like a regular locker room for the exception of the lockers that were
high pressure storage lockers. Shane placed the case on the bench and began
to undress. Shane slipped the plug suit on and pressed the wrist button to
make the extra air in the suit to be vacuumed out.
 "Shane the only thing you need to do now is board the lift on the far wall
and the rest will be explained as we go." Ritsuko said over the intercom.
Shane did as told and boarded the lift on the far wall. The doors of the
lift closed as Shane walked into the lift. The lift started to move upward
as Shane looked at his reflection in his black and white plug suit in the
steel doors of the lift. Suddenly the lift stopped and the doors opened to
reveal a catwalk. Shane walked out of the lift  and onto the catwalk. Shane
followed the catwalk until it lead to a semi-opened room. The room was all
white for the exception of a opening in the middle of the room and a entry
plug command chair in a loader and a entry plug in a robotic loader.
 "Now Shane, all you need to do is sit in the entry plug's command chair and
the rest will be handled by us in the control room." Ritsuko said over the
intercom as Shane boarded the command chair.
Soon the command chair placed in the entry plug and the hatch closed and the
LCL entry jets filled the entry plug with LCL.
 "Don't worry about the liquid, for it will allow you to breath inside the
entry plug." Explained Ritsuko over the external speakers.
At first Shane was not sure about breathing a liquid, but she soon got use
to the idea when he did not drown.
 "Lowing entry plug to Unit-3's neck opening." One of the control panel
operators as the panels that formed the back of Unit-3's neck began to open.
 "Entry plug secured and locked into place. All panels closing. No
problems." Said another operator as the entry plug's hatch started to close.
 "Main circuits, image and pilot's statues coming in clear." Maya said as
Ritsuko watched in wonder at the Eva.
 "Unit-3 is ready for main power to be connected Ma'am." Said a operator as
his control console showed that everything was ready.
 "Don't worry about a thing and try to stay clam and concentrate. Focus on
being one with the Eva." Ritsuko said over the video radio.
 "Pilot and Eva have made connection, ratio rising we are at borderline,
passing borderline now." Explained Maya as the Eva's head moved and look
straight into to control room.
Excellent Shane thought Ritsuko as the operators looked at the
synchronization ratio as it peaked at 390 percent and boarded there for the
remainder of the test.
 "How do you feel Shane."
 "Kind of weird and a little nerves."
 "Weird in what sense?" Asked Ritsuko as she wrote in a file.
 "It feels like my body is not here and my left arm has something on it that
is putting pressure on it." Explained Shane as he looked at his left arm.
 "That is normal for your body has not gotten use to the LCL pressure and
the Eva's feed back circuits that connect you to the Eva."
 "OK Shane you can get out now."
Inside the entry plug the image flashed different colors then to the greyish
yellow of the internal walls of the entry plug. The entry plug was ejected
back into the hand of the loader and placed back into the white room. The
LCL was drained and the hatch opened as the command chair was lifted out of
the entry plug. The lights of the room blinded Shane temporary as the
command chair was set next to the entrance of the room. Shane walked slowly
down the catwalk for he felt a little light headed from his experience. He
once again used the lift to get to the locker room. When Shane reached the
dressing room he sit on a bench to try and regain his composure, Shane soon
regained his composure and started to take the plug suit off. As Shane
folded the plug suit and then started to put his shirt on a high pitched
sound rang in his head. Shane held his head in pain when a voice suddenly
started to speak to him in his head.
 "Remember the truth for it will help you." The voice said as the ringing
slowly went away.
 "What tha." Thought Shane as he finished dressing.
Shane only dismissed the voice and placed his plug suit into its case and
opened the door that lead to the hallway. When Shane stepped out into the
hall a voice said "Hello" from the side of him. Shane turned to face the
voice to see a beautiful woman with long purple hair and wearing casual
clothing with the strips of major on the caller of her jacket she wore.
 "Are you going to stare or are you going to say hello?"
 "Oh, hello." Shane said as he came out of his trance.
 "I know it is odd for a beautiful woman to say hello to a boy she does not
know, well let me introduce myself. I'm Major Katsuragi, but you can call me
Misato." Said the woman as she shook Shane's hand.
 "Nice to meet you Misato."
 "I see that you have meet the Head of NERV Military Operations." Said
Ritsuko as she steps into the hall way.
 "Hi Ritsuko." Misato said as Ritsuko walks to her side.
 "Shane you have a activation and synchronization test tomorrow and a basic
and weapons training the day after that." Explained Ritsuko as she grabbed
Misato by the arm and dragged her down the hallway.
 "Don't forget to check with the living director before you leave." Yelled
Misato as she waved good-bye to Shane.
Shane only looked at them and went off in search of the living director's
office.
 "What is your problem Ritsuko." Yelled Misato as Ritsuko let's go of her
arm.
 "I need to discuss a important matter with you." Ritsuko said as she took
off her glasses.
 "Shane has the highest synchronization ratio of all the Children and I am
worry about what if he reaches 400 percent tomorrow." Said a worry toned
Ritsuko.
 "So he has the highest ratio of all the Children." Misato said as she lends
up against a wall.
 "I worry about Shane for if he breaks the 400 limit there is no telling
what will happen."
 "Did you say you worry about Shane?" Asked Misato as she now stares at
Ritsuko.
 "Did I say that, I ment that I." Ritsuko said in a shock tone.
 "Come clean Ritsuko." Misato said as she finds out something about Ritsuko
she did not know about before.
 "I guess it is time to tell you the truth about the connection between
Shane and me."
 "I was Shane's adopted mother and I loved him as if he was my own son, but
he was too young to remember that I was his mother." Said Ritsuko sadly as
they started to walk down the hall together.
I cannot believe what  she is telling me. She was a mother. Thought Misato
as listened to Ritsuko started to tell her the story.
 "I guess I need to explain what happened that allowed Shane to be my son.
 "It was during the beginning stages of NERV and my mother and me was
working on Unit-0 and the MAGI computers systems when it happened." Said
Ritsuko as she falls into a flashback.
 "So this what really happened in the Polar Ice Caps." A man with glasses on
and in a green light surrounding him said as he flips through orbit pictures
of the Second Impact.
 "My I ask what you call this thing in this pictures?" A man in a orange
light asked.
 "I call the creature a Angel. For it was fore told in the Dead Sea Scrolls
and it suits the creatures that will come in 15 years from now." Said a tall
woman with long jet black hair. She was wearing a black dress with a white
silk blouse with a lab coat that was cut to be a jacket.
 "Are you telling this Council that these so called Angels are the cause of
the Second Impact and that they will return in 15 years to cause another
impact?" Asked a much older man at the end of the Council's table surrounded
by a white light.
 "Yes Sir, I am telling this Council that a possible Third Impact will
happen if the Angels succeed in bonding with the creature in the photos, but
instead of half of the world's population being wiped out, the whole human
race will be completely destroyed."
 "What do you propose we do about the Angels?" A man in a purple light
asked.
 "I propose that we build protectors to protect the human race." The woman
answered.
 "How real is this ever happening?" A man in a blue light asked to his
fellow Council members.
 "The chances of a possible Third Impact is to real for a Angel has to just
come in contact with another Angel and this will create a powerful AT Field
that is hundred times stronger compared to the Second Impact one." Argued
the woman.
 "A AT Field, what is this?" Asked the man in the white light.
 "A AT Field or Absolute Terror Field is what the Angel used to melt the Ice
Caps and cause the floods and horror of the aftermath of the Second Impact."
 "That does not answer are question Doctor Kim." The man in the white light
yelled.
 "Sorry Sir, a AT Field from what little data that has been collected is a
high power force barrier that can be expanded and contracted at will. The AT
Field used in the Second Impact was a heat source field that when expanded
would generate extreme high temperatures, in short a AT Field is much like a
protective barrier that protects the host from any physical attack and
common weaponry that may try to attack the host or it can be used as a
weapon as seen from the Second Impact's Angel." Explained Doctor Kim.
 "So the AT Field is protective barrier and a weapon." Said the man in the
green light as he looked at Doctor Kim.
 "Yes Sir, that is correct according to the data." Said Doctor Kim.
 "Thank you for your important information Doctor Kim. You are dismissed."
The man in the white light said as Doctor Kim bowed and exited the room.
Doctor Kim walked out into a hallway that was dimly lit and lights that was
fading in and out or they were broken.
 "You know that we need to take steps to cover the truth up about the Second
Impact." Said the man in the green light.
 "Yes I agree, she does know to much as it is and she might become a
security risk if she would to leak this to the public and the media."
Explained the man in the blue light.
 "I see that SEELE has to take steps to cover up this and build the
Protectors, for Doctor Kim might be right and to cover the connections that
tries us closely to the Polar Ice Caps projects." Said the man in the white
light as he pressed a button on the chair's arm.
 "I think Doctor Akagi and her daughter will do nicely for research and
development of the Protectors and this man will lead the organization that
will destroy the Angels and protect us from any investigation in the Second
Impact." Said the man in the white light as he looks at a picture of a
younger Gendou Ikari.
A year passed and Doctor Kim received a letter from the UN. The letter
wanted her to come to the newly built Tokyo-3 with her new born son Shane.
They wanted her to head a scientific research group. For the first time in
Doctor Kim's life she was happy for she had a purpose in her life for she
was a mother and a respected scientist in the field of nerve impulses and
the technology to link a human’s brain to a non-living organic substance.
She called this new technology Evangelion.
The train ride from her small hometown to Tokyo-3 was not an easy one for
the chaos of the Second Impact had not settled down, but she did not mind
for she had her son with her and that's what was important to her. It was
early morning, on the third day of her trip when the train arrived at
Tokyo-3's station.
 "So this is Tokyo-3." Doctor Kim said as she pick up her small suitcase.
 "Doctor Kim I presume." A man in a black suit and trench coat said as he
walk up to Doctor Kim.
 "Yes I'm Doctor Kim, who are you?" Asked Doctor Kim.
 "My name is not important." The man in the black suit explained as he pick
up her suitcase.
 "Please follow me." Said the man the black suit as he walked down the steps
of the station to the street.
Doctor Kim walked down the steps to see the man putting her suitcase in the
trunk of a car and another man dressed the same way opening the back seat
door for her.
 "Please Doctor Kim come with us." Said the man with the open door.
Doctor Kim steps into the car with her child in her arms as the man closed
the door behind her and opened the passenger's door for himself. Both men
were in the car when Doctor Kim asked the man in the passenger seat. "What
was going on."
The car started and was on heading towards the heart of the city before the
man answered her.
 "Doctor Kim do you remember the day you went before the Council to report
on what happened in the Polar Ice Caps?"
 "Yes, I do."
 "Good, the Council decided that the need for the Protectors that you
requested to be built would help mankind avoid another Impact so they
decided to make your dream a reality. A new branch of the UN had been
established to settle the problem that you brought up to the Council."
Doctor Kim's eyes lit up as she could not believe her ears.
 "So what is this new branch that you are talking about called?" Doctor Kim
asked as the car reached a tunnel.
 "The new branch of the UN is called NERV and they are responsible for the
development and maintenance of the Protectors and is also responsible for
the protection of the human race from the Angels as well." The passenger
explained as the car stopped in front of a large steel door with the words
NERV cruelly painted on it.
A man in military field uniform stepped out from a booth that had been setup
on the side of the door and walked to the driver side door of the car.
 "My I see your ID and security clearance cards?" The man in the uniform
asked as the driver rolled down the window.
The Driver handed him four cards and a sheet of paper. The man looked at the
cards carefully and then looked at the sheet and then looked at Doctor Kim
and her baby. Soon the man walked back to the booth and picked up a black
phone. The man spoke into the phone for a little while before hanging up and
motioning the car to proceed as the large steel door opened into a staircase
lift. The car drove up onto the step like lift as the tires locked into
place with clamps. Soon the lift started to move downward. At first the only
thing that could be seen was a tube shaped passageway with red lights
lighting the passageway till a bright beam of light suddenly appeared.
 "This is the main headquarters of NERV and the home of the first prototype
of the Protectors." Explained the passenger as the sight of the Geo-Front
amazed Doctor Kim.
 "As you can see there is some areas of headquarters still being built and
security here is very tight so you might need one of these." The Driver said
as he turns around in his seat to hand Doctor Kim a picture ID badge.
 "Thank you." Said Doctor Kim as she placed it on the caller of her shirt.
Soon the lift stopped in front a large door with the NERV logo and the words
"God In His Heaven, All Rights To The World" written below it. The door
opened and the car started to move foreword as the lights changed from red
to a normal white glow. Soon the car came to a parking deck area, a man in a
black suit stopped them. The man rushed to the car as the passenger reached
his hand into his jacket.
 "Sir, the Commander wishes to see the Doctor in his office." Explained the
man.
 "Thank you." The Driver said as the car drove off.
Soon the car stopped and parked in a slot as the two men opened their doors.
One man opened the trunk and the other man helped Doctor Kim out of the car.
 "The Commander wishes to see you Doctor Kim." Said the man with her
suitcase.
 "I will escort you to his office, Doctor." The other man said.
Soon both Doctor Kim and the man was on a lift heading downward to the
operations and deployment areas of NERV headquarters The lift stopped and
Doctor Kim and the man stepped out in to a hallway that was lighted by
electric lamps and high power stand up lamps as they walked down the hallway
to a door. The man pressed some keys on a access panel to open the door.
Soon the door opened to a well lit room  with a man made water fall and
plants hanging from the ceiling and where a woman stood as of she was
waiting for someone.
 "Where is she, she was post to be here five minutes ago." Said the woman as
she looked at her watch,
The man and Doctor Kim walked behind her and the man tapped her on the
shoulder.
 "Oh, it's you." The woman said as she turned to look at the man.
 "I like you to meet the new scientist NERV had brought in to help you with
the Protectors." Explained the man as the woman looked at Doctor Kim.
 "Hello, I'm Doctor Naoko Akagi, but you can call me Naoko since we are
going to be working together and the woman running towards us is my daughter
Ritsuko." Naoko said as Ritsuko stopped beside her mother to catch her
breath.
 "I'm sorry for not being here on time mother."
 "It's OK as long as you got here." Naoko said as she turned to look at
Doctor Kim again.
 "That reminds me, I did not get your name."
 "Sorry my name is Doctor Jessica Kim, but you can call me Jessica since we
are going to be working together." Doctor Kim said in a joking tone.
 "And who is this, my I ask?" Ritsuko asked as she looked at Jessica's arms.
 "Oh, I almost forgot to introduce my only son Shane." Jessica said as she
held him up to be seen better by Ritsuko and Naoko.
 "It looks like that the Commander is not the only one that has a child that
is living in this place." Naoko said regrettably.
 "You mean Shinji?" Ritsuko asked as she looks at the sleeping Shane in his
mother's arms.
 "Doctor Kim we need to be on are way for the Commander does not like to be
keep waiting." Explained the man in the suit.
 "Will I guess I will see you later then." Jessica said as she walked off
with the man.
 "So that when you meet Doctor Kim and Shane for the first time."
 "Yes that was the first time we meet and my mother and Shane's mother
became close friends as they worked together to create Unit-0 and 1."
Explained Ritsuko as she pressed the call button for the elevator.
 "So what happened to Shane's mother to cause him to be like this?" Asked
Misato as they waited for the elevator.
 "Well is happened about two months after Unit-0 completion and the basic
nerve connections in Unit-1 was being grown." Said Ritsuko as she slipped
into another flashback.
 "How do you get him to sit still on our desk like that?" A woman with a
baby over her shoulder asked.
 "I really don't know, he just sits their looking at the papers I write on
and the pictures of Unit-0 when I bring him here." Jessica explained as she
sat at her desk writing down some figures.
 "Boy, I wish Shinji would sit still for a second for the day will be here
soon."
 "What day is that Yui?"
 "The day that Unit-1 will be completed and ready for its first activation."
Explained Yui as the baby Shinji started to wake.
 "I better go for Gendou will be leaving soon for the Polar Ice Caps to see
how things are going up there and I want to see him before he leaves." Yui
said as she rushed out the door with Shinji.
 "Well I guess that leaves you and me." Said Jessica as she looks at Shane
sitting on her desk.
Soon there was a knock on the door.
 "Come in." Jessica said as she looks at Shane.
 "Ma'am we are ready for the test to begin with Unit-0 if you are ready?"
Said a man in orange overalls.
 "I will be there in a second. I have to finish this last report so tell the
operators that I will be their shortly."
 "Oh and another thing, we are having problems with Unit-1."
 "What problem would that be." Jessica said as she stares at the man with a
evil look.
 "The program for the personality transfer from the pilot to the Eva has a
kink in it." Said the now nervous man as he bows his head in shame.
 "Is that all, talk to Doctor Naoko Akagi about that." Said the now cheerful
voice of Jessica.
The man soon left as Jessica finished her report and her work load for the
day. Jessica picked up her son from the desk and walked out of door as
closes it behind her. Jessica locked the door and was on her way to the lift
that would take her to the Eva test chamber when she meet up with Ritsuko.
 "How are you doing?" Ritsuko asked as she waved at Jessica.
 "I'm fine, but can I ask a favor of you Ritsuko?" Asked Jessica as Shane
began to wake up in her arms.
 "Sure" Ritsuko said as Shane grabbed one of Ritsuko's fingers with his
small hands.
 "Can you watch Shane while I do the activation test with Unit-0 ?"
 "Sure and besides I think he likes me." Said Ritsuko as she took Shane from
Jessica's arms.
 "I almost forgot." Jessica said as she lefts up her hair.
 "Since I have to wear the plug suit for the test. I cannot wear anything
that might interfere with the test so I want Shane to have this." Said
Jessica as she unhooked a small heart shaped locket with a small gold ring
on its chain.
Jessica placed the locket it around her son's neck
 "I want Shane to witness his mother's work in real life for he been looking
at the pictures of Unit-0 on my desk for a while now. I want you to bring
him to Unit-0's activation test." Jessica said before she kissed her son on
the forehead and ran off towards the lift.
Later on Ritsuko arrived at the control room with Shane as the entry plug
was lowering to Unit-0's insertion slot.
 "All systems green."
 "Entry plug has been inserted, neck panels are locked and secured. All
systems are operational." A control panel operator said as the systems in
the Eva started to come alive.
 "Hello, Jessica." Said Ritsuko through the video radio.
 "How's my baby boy, Ritsuko?" Jessica asked as she sat in the command chair
in Unit-0.
 "He's fine, say hello to your mom, Shane." Ritsuko said as lifted Shane up
into view of the video transmitter.
 "What tha?" Said one of the operators as his console flashed with the red
word ERROR.
 "What's wrong?" Yelled Jessica through the video radio.
 "There is a pro_in_the." Ritsuko said as the video transmission went to
snow.
 "What's happening?" Ritsuko shouted as the lights in the control room
turned red.
 "The Eva is breaking free." Shouted a frantic operator.
 "Abort the test, cut the main power feed, eject the plug now." Ritsuko
ordered as the Eva broke free from its restraints and started to move
towards the control room.
 "Get away from the window." Shouted a operator as the Eva's fist made
contact with the window sending hundreds of shattered pieces of glass
inward.
 "Eva has switched to internal power supply. Complete shutdown of Eva's
systems in five minutes." Shouted a operator as the countdown raced to zero.
The Eva became more aggressive as the it pounded the walls with its head and
fists.
 "Three minutes and counting." Yelled a operator as the Eva continued its
assault on the walls of the control room.
 "What is the status of the pilot." Yelled Ritsuko as the sound of flesh and
metal tearing apart was heard.
Ritsuko looks up at the Eva as the head of the Eva fell to the floor below.
 "My God, what have we created." Ritsuko said as the Eva dug its fingers in
the opening that use to be were the head was.
The Eva was acting like it was trying to  rip the entry plug out when
suddenly the entry plug ejected, hitting the roof of the room and sending
sparks flying as it slid across the roof. The entry plug's ejection jets
soon stopped and the entry plug fell to the ground with a loud clanking
sound.
 "Filling chamber with dry coolant." Said a operator as small water jets
appeared around the Eva.
 "Eva shutdown in 5, 4, 3, 2, , 1, shutdown." A operator yelled as the water
jets sprayed a pinkish colored liquid at the Eva. The Eva slowly stopped
hitting the wall, but the Eva lost its balance and fell backwards.
The room was silent as the pink liquid dried, forming a crystal like prison
for the Eva.
 "Eva has gone silent." A operator said as the chamber's video cameras
slowly came back online.
 "Video one though five have come back online." A operator said as the video
monitors came up with pictures of the Eva laying on its back.
 "What tha." Said a operator as he pressed the zoom button on his control
console.
 "Send a recovery team and call the medics to get down there now." The
operator ordered as the other people in the control room looked at him
strangely.
 "There is a medical emergency here." The operator shouted as he points at
his monitor.
The monitor showed a devastating sight, the Eva had fallen on the entry
plug. The entry plug was crushed from the Eva's weight, as LCL and blood
mixed together to form a grosom sight. Ritsuko fell to her knees as the
sight over took her with emotions. She was in a state of shock for Jessica
might be dead and the way she died, all the thoughts hit her as the baby
Shane cried in her arms.
Rescue crews and paramedic worked frantically as seconds turned to minutes
turned to hour and the chances of survival  became smaller and smaller. The
night soon became dawn as the Eva was moved off the entry plug.
 "Get a board over her." A man in a white shirt and black pants on as he
waved his hand frantically.
The man carefully pulled a limp body out of the wreckage of the entry plug.
Other people soon gathered around the seen as the man and two other men
strapped Jessica's lifeless body on a flat board and rushed her out of the
chamber to a waiting ambulance.
 "Jessica was sent to NERV's special hospital where she stayed for about
three months, then she died in her sleep right after my mother killed
herself." Ritsuko said as she broke out in tears from the painful memory.
 "Here take it." Misato said softly as she hands Ritsuko a tissue from her
jacket pocket.
 "Are you all right, Ritsuko?" Misato asked softly as Ritsuko wiped the last
of her tears away.
 "I'm fine." Ritsuko said as she tried to stop crying.
 "You don't have to finish the story if you don't want to." Explained Misato
as the elevator stopped and the doors opened to show a hallway.
 "It is good for me to tell you this for I need to tell someone else of my
problems instead of keeping them to myself." Ritsuko explained with a smile.
 "OK then what happen next?" Asked Misato as they reached a security card
door.
 "It was about two months till I returned to NERV, but I was busy being a
mother to Shane for Jessica had no living family and her husband died during
the aftermath of the Second Impact, so I took Shane under my wing for the
time." Explained Ritsuko as she slipped into another flashback.
 "Let me see here if I change this and reconfigure this program here. I
should get a 30 percent increase in the main power core, but the increase
will cause this to generate heat." Ritsuko thought out loud as she wrote on
a white board with mathematical problems and example drawings on it.
 "Ma, am" said a younger Maya as she sits at a desk looking at the now 1
year old Shane.
 "Ma, am" Maya said as she started to get up from her seat.
 "Ma, am" Maya started again as Ritsuko noticed Maya behind her.
 "What is it Maya can you see am busy working on this problem." Ritsuko said
in a harsh tone.
 "I am sorry for bothering you, but I think you need to see this." Maya said
as she points to the desk she was sitting at.
Ritsuko turns towards the desk, to her surprise her adopted son was on both
his feet walking on the desk.
 "You should have told me that he was walking instead of, oh forget it."
Ritsuko said as she walked over to the desk and pick him up and told him he
was a perfect angel.
Happier memory came to her as she remembers Shane's 2nd birthday, then the
memory of Jessica's husband’s family finding out about Jessica's death and
the request that they wanted Shane to return to America with a Uncle that
lived in Tokyo-3. Ritsuko did everything in her power to stop them, but in
the end she lost Shane when he was three.
 "So what happen then?"
 "After the custody rights was handed over to the husband’s family, Shane
had to receive a passport and a visa for he was born in Japan and was a
citizen of Tokyo-3 this took a year and in that year he stayed with his
Uncle at Jessica's old house. I sent him money and letters while he stayed
in Japan, but that time soon came to an end for the letters and money was
being returned with no address found stamped on them. I was heart broken
until a month ago when I found Shane again. Shane recently has his
fourteenth birthday and he was thought out by the Marduke Institute for he
was a top ranking candidate for the E-Project, so I requested him to be a
Eva pilot. NERV wanted a pilot and maybe a leader, I on the other hand
wanted to see him again." A confident Ritsuko explained.
 "So you used NERV to your advantage?" Misato asked as they entered the
observatory room.
 "I guess in a way, yes for all of Jessica's personal files and background
files had been erased from the computers for about thirteen years and not
many of the personal here remembers Jessica and Shane." Ritsuko explained as
they stepped into a glass floored room.
 "Mr. Pardue you will be living in the military personal block until we can
find a more secure living assignment." A man in a NERV military uniform said
.
 "That is fine."
 "Hello again Shane." Misato shouted as she and Ritsuko entered the room.
 "No not her, anyone except her." The man in the uniform mumbled under is
breath as he sees Misato walk into sight.
 "Hello Major Katsuragi." Shane said as he turns to face her.
 "My I help you Major." The man in the uniform asked.
 "Yes you can, you can start by changing the housing assignment to Doctor
Akagi's address and changing the records for Shane to receive a class S
security pass." Explained Misato as a confused Ritsuko and Shane look at
Misato.
 "I'm doing this for you Ritsuko." Misato whispered.
 "But, I." Ritsuko started when she was cut off by the man.
 "The records and keycard will be changed right away, Ma'am." The man said
as he walks out of the room.
 "Thank you." Misato said as she pats Shane on the back.
 "So it looks like you have a roommate now, Ritsuko." Misato said as she
lift Shane and Ritsuko alone in the room.
 "It looks like you will be staying with me at my apartment." Ritsuko as she
smiled.
 "I guess if you don't mind having a roommate." Shane said as he looked at
Ritsuko in a different way.
It was around midnight when Ritsuko and Shane left the Geo-Front and on
their way to Ritsuko's apartment. Shane and Ritsuko walked side-by-side as
street lamps lit up the sidewalk and a small park.
 "Ritsuko can I ask you a question?"
 "What is your question, Shane?"
 "I have this strange feeling we have meet before, but I guess its my
imagination." Shane said as he started to laugh slightly.
 "Maybe in another live time you knew me." Ritsuko said as she tried to tell
Shane the truth, but could not.
Ritsuko and Shane soon reached the door to Ritsuko's apartment. Ritsuko
searched her small purse for the key to the door as Shane looked around the
multi-layered apartment complex.
 "Ah, I found it." Ritsuko said as she opens the door to the apartment and
turns on the lights to see where she was going..
Shane slowly walks into the apartment for he did not want to intrude.
 "The place is a little messe for my last apartment was destroyed during the
last attack and I have not began to unpack." Ritsuko said as she places her
purse on the kitchen table.
Shane looks at the mover's boxes as he slowly walks to the kitchen to see
Ritsuko taking her lab coat off.
 "I guess it is time to find you a place to sleep." Ritsuko said as she
passed him and walked into the hallway.
Ritsuko carefully moved some of the boxes out of the way to reveal a door.
 "You can sleep here." Ritsuko said as she opens the door to show a moderate
room with a window and a small bed and some shelves with drawers for clothes
and other personal belongings.
 "I hope you don't mind this because I know that you are use to more." Said
Ritsuko as she walk off.
 "I don't mind for I am a guest in your home." Said Shane as he did not
notice Ritsuko was in the kitchen.
Shane places his backpack in his room and walked to the kitchen to see
Ritsuko trying to figure out what to eat for dinner.
 "I hope you don't mind leftovers." Ritsuko said with a smile.
 "I don't mind, Ritsuko." Shane said as he sat down at the table with
Ritsuko sitting in front of him.
After dinner Shane and Ritsuko sat silently as they drank tea. Shane was
looking around the room when he saw a row of pictures frames on a shelve.
Shane slowly got up from  his chair and walked towards the pictures as
Ritsuko finished her tea.
 "Who are these people?" Shane asked as he pickup one of the pictures.
Ritsuko got up from her chair and walked to Shane to look at the picture
with him.
 "This is a picture of the founders of NERV and the EVAs. Everyone is in the
picture except Commander Fuyutsuki and Misato for they where not working at
NERV yet." Ritsuko explained as Shane looked at the picture and spotted
something odd.
the picture was of Commander Ikari with a hand on Yui's shoulder as she sat
in a chair with baby Shinji in her arms, Ritsuko and her mother stood beside
each other as Doctor Kim sat in a chair with her son. The thing that was odd
about the picture was the locket Doctor Kim wore around her neck. The locket
looked the same as the one Shane wore on his dogtag that he wore around his
neck.
The hour became late as Shane and Ritsuko said good night to each other and
went to their bedrooms. Ritsuko slept uneasy as she tried to tell Shane the
truth, but could not for she  tried and could not bare to tell him. Shane
also slept uneasy as he tried to figure out the reason Doctor Kim had a
locket like his and why Ritsuko was acting so sad around him even thou she
tries to hide behind her cheerfulness. Shane soon fell to sleep thinking
about this as night became day.
The morning sun soon hit Shane's face as he wakes to the morning rays, Shane
looked out his window to see the sun slowly rising over the mountains as
hears a bell ringing in the background. Shane quickly changes his clothes to
the ones he wore last night to his school uniform. Shane quietly opens his
door to not wake up Ritsuko as he walks to the kitchen to get some leftover
dinner and to write Ritsuko a not telling her not to worry about him for he
left early for school. Shane soon walks out the door as Ritsuko wakes to
find Shane's note and to call NERV security to keep a eye on him.
Shane walks down the street close to a park as he follows other kids in
school uniforms to the school. Shane soon arrives at the school as other
students start to get their.
 "So you love Asuka?" Kensuka asked as he walks to school with Shinji.
 "Yes, I do so what about it?"
 "Nothing, I was making sure that it was not the one day flu or a fever."
Kensuka said as they entered the front gates of the school.
 "So have you heard the rumor about Rei and that new kid Shane?" Kensuka
whispered.
 "No, what about them?"
 "I heard that they were seen leaving together and that there is another
rumor that there is another Eva pilot that had been transferred to this
school. Do you know who it is, Shinji?"
Shinji only looks at Kensuka in amazement for he said that whole sentence in
one breath.
Soon everyone was in their class as the teacher of class 2-A entered the
room with the morning ritual and the roll call.
 "Today's lesson will be on the scientific table of atoms in a one cell
organ and the causes of the First Impact and Second and the problems it had
on Japan's economy." The Teacher said as a loud groan was heard from the
class.
The day passed slowly as the teacher pulled out over head pictures, ceiling
charts, and read from the text book. The bell soon rang to signal it was
lunch time. Kensuka and Shinji went to the roof to eat their lunch as Asuka
and Hikari eat their lunch together as always. Shane looked around the
classroom to see everyone had someone to eat with except him. He was going
to ask Rei, but she was no where to be found at the time. Shane decided to
eat alone as he opens his backpack to get a small plate of leftovers he
fixed that morning. Shane was putting his lunch on his desk when he heard a
car come to a streaching stop in the parking lot. Quickly everyone was
pressed up against the window as the driver stepped out of the car. Shane
looked down to see the driver was Major Katsuragi wearing a red dress with a
white shirt with a tie and a red uniform jacket and to top it off she wore
sunglasses. Soon all the girls were back in their seats as they mumbled
under their breath about the boys looking out the window at Misato.
As Misato walked away from the car a familiar voice started to shout at
Misato.
 "Are you crazy, you could have gotten us killed with that kind of driving."
Argued the voice the voice as Shane looked out the window to see Ritsuko
getting out of the passenger side.
 "I'm sorry Ritsuko, but we were going to be late if I did not run a few
stop lights and have gone 60." Misato said in her defense as she turned to
face Ritsuko.
 "You call running about 30 stop lights and going about a 100 saving time."
The bell sounded again to signal that lunch was over as Misato and Ritsuko
entered the school.
The teacher returned from his lunch break and class was back in session when
the Principal came over the intercom requesting Shane Pardue to report to
the office. Shane only stood up from his desk and walked out of the
classroom as e was puzzled for the reason he was asked to report to the
principal's office. The first thing that came to his mind was he would be
transferred to another school by the end of the week or something else like
that. Shane walked down the stairs to the main floor, pass the teacher's
office and pass the nurses station till he came to the Principal's office.
Shane knocked on the door as a voice said to come in. To his surprise Misato
and Ritsuko was sitting in the office along with the Principal.
 "Sit" The Principal said as she talks to Misato while flipping through a
stack of papers.
 "I know this is odd, but I cannot refuse government orders or that of any
UN or government official to release this student to the hands of his
guardian." The Principal said as she hands Misato a sheet of paper with the
NERV logo on it.
 "Then it is settled, Mr. Pardue will be out the remainder of this month ad
half of next month for government issues." Said the Principal as Ritsuko and
Misato stood up from their chairs.
Shane only stood and watched as Misato signals him to come with them.
 "So how does it feel to be out of school as long as you are?" Misato said
as she smiled at Shane that was still surprised at the turn of events.
 "Fine I guess, but how did you get me out as long as you did?" Shane asked
as he climbs into the backseat of Misato's car.
 "Simple I told NERV's Commanders and high brass that you needed training
with your Eva before you go into battle and we need you to be present when
we prepare the Eva for its first live walk above the Geo-Front and you might
want to buckle up." Said Misato as she pops the stick shift into first and
races out of the parking lot to the streets of Tokyo-3.
As Misato's car races to the Geo-Front Asuka, Shinji, and Rei was walking to
the Geo-Front from school.
 "So Wonder Girl has herself a boyfriend and all this time I thought you
liked Shinji."
 "What, that is not true." Shinji said in his normal shock tone of voice as
this was the first time Asuka has pointed the finger at both himself and
Rei.
 "He not my boyfriend."
 "So Shinji who do you like?" Asuka asked out of the blue.
 "Well" Shinji started as a image of Asuka beating the life out of him
popped in his mind when he thought to tell her his true feelings for her but
he did it anyway.
 "Well Asuka, I really like." Shinji started as his mind froze.
 "Well spit it out." Asuka ordered.
 "The person I truly love is you Asuka." Said Shinji softly.
 "What was that Shinji, that you love who?" Asuka asked as she put a finger
on his forehead.
 "I said, I love you Asuka." Said Shinji louder as a blood soaked scream
came from Asuka.
 "You love me Shinji?" Asuka asked as she placed her hand on his forehead.
 "What are you doing, Asuka?"
 "I'm checking you for a fever because you are acting weirder then normal
today."
 "No, I do not have a fever for I truly love you  Asuka. Since the time we
kissed when Misato was working late to the time we first meet on top the
aircraft carrier." Shinji said as he took her hand from his forehead and
placed it between his hands.
Then Shinji pulled Asuka closer to him as Asuka rested her hand on his
shoulder and whispered into Shinji's ear.
 "I know that you loved me and I you too Shinji."
As Shinji and Asuka hold each other a loud crashing sound was heard.
 "Kensuka" Shouted both Asuka and Shinji as Kensuka satup right ways with
his camera in hand.
 "You don't have to yell so loud for I was only recording the only thing you

 "And what would that be?" Asuka asked.
 "The love you two hold dear to each other and I have it right here on this
disk for you two can enjoy over and over again." Said Kensuka as he ejected
the disk from his camera.
 "Thank you." Said Shinji as he grabs the disk from Kensuke’s hand and
started to run to catch up with Rei.
 "Wait for me Shinji." Yelled Asuka as she started to run after Shinji.
 "Oh' well at least I have a copy in my back pocket." Kensuka said as he
reaches into his back pocket for the extra disk to find nothing, but a
broken disk instead.
Rei was already at the keycard door when Shinji and Asuka caught up with
her.
 "So you two have finally admitted that you are in love with one another"
Rei said as she slipped her card into the lock's card slot.
Both Shinji and Asuka looked at her with surprised looks when she guessed
that they where in love.
 "How did?" Shinji started when Rei interrupted.
 "How did I know that you two love each other." Rei said as the door opened.
 "It was simple really for the way you act towards Ikari and the way Ikari
gets embarrassed when you yell at him Asuka." Explained Rei as she walks
into the doorway.
 "I guess she is right, since we do live together and we do see each other
allot, it is common sense we would fall in love." Said Asuka as she looks
into Shinji's eyes.
 "Asuka do you remember when I kissed you and you was sicken by it? Where
you really sicken by it or was you acting."
 "To tell you the truth I really enjoyed it and I want to do it again if you
don't mind." Asuka said as she suddenly kissed Shinji on the lips and
slipped her card into the slot to open the door.
Asuka slowly pulled away from Shinji and said.
 "Well I guess I see you later." As she winked at Shinji, that was in a
dream state.
Unnoticed by the three Children, in the underground combat simulator a new
pilot was being born to fight the Angels.
 "This exercise is easy. The only thing you have to do is get to point B
that is located on the map screen as fast as you can." Explained Ritsuko
through the video radio in Unit-3's entry plug.
 "The trick to make the Eva move is to think of the Eva as a extension of
your own body." Ritsuko said as Shane began to think about making the Eva
walk.
 "OK Maya setup the image feed and connect the sensors input to the Eva's
video input circuits." Ritsuko said as Unit-3 walk slowly.
Shane slowly made the Eva walk when the Eva tripped and fell foreword.
 "Are you all right Shane?" Ritsuko asked though the video radio.
 "I'm all right, but I cannot concentrate to goof right now." Said Shane as
Unit-3 slowly got back to its feet.
 "Do you want me to put some music on to help you concentrate?" Ritsuko
asked.
 "Yes please."
Ritsuko walk to Shane's backpack and opens it to find his CD player she saw
him with. Ritsuko hands the CD out of his player to Maya at her computer
console. Maya places the CD into a slot and typed on a key board to open the
Eva's internal speakers in the entry plug.
The music started as Shane ready himself for another try at walking. Shane
started out with a regular walking pace as he slowly got faster and faster
till the Eva was at a running pace. Ritsuko watches Shane as the memory of
Shane's first steps on her desk came to her as the Eva was now running at
full pace.
Far above the running Eva in a observing room Commander Ikari and Commander
Fuyutsuki watches the 5th Child move the Eva with ease.
 "Ikari do you think the 5th Child will be ready if a Angel attacks if one
does attack?" Commander Fuyutsuki asked.
 "A course for the 5th Child is doing better then I had planned for he has
already mastered the basics for a Evangelion in a matter of seconds as it
took all the other Children days to master the simple act of running in a
Eva." Commander Ikari said as he pushes his glasses up the bridge of his
nose.
 "How about SEELE and the request to place the 5th in combat?"
 "SEELE is not a problem for they requested the 5th Child into battle, but
this will be their undoing for SEELE does not know what they are getting
into if they use the 5th's personal data in a dummy plug." Explained
Commander Ikari as he places his hands behind him.
On a higher level of NERV headquarters Misato was riding a elevator down to
meet Ritsuko in the simulator's control room, when the doors of the elevator
opens.
 "Hey hold that elevator!" Yelled Kaji  as he ran towards the open doors of
the elevator.
Misato presses the door close button as Kaji runs to the doors. At the last
second Kaji places a hand in between the doors to stop them from closing.
Realizing this Misato gets a ticked off expression on her face as Kaji steps
into the elevator with her.
 "So sunshine where are off to in such a rush?" Kaji asked as he placed a
hand on her shoulder.
 "For your information I was on my way to the simulator level to meet
Ritsuko." Said Misato as she lifts Kaji's hand off her shoulder.
 "That's great for I have not seen Ritsuko lately and I do want to say
hello." Said Kaji as Misato began to think to herself about the horrible
things she could do to Kaji right now.
The elevator soon reached the simulator level and Misato and Kaji step out
of the elevator as Commander Ikari and Commander Fuyutsuki passes then
silently. Both Commanders passes them with their normal silent treatment as
they board a elevator.
 "The next exercise will be a firearms test to see the rate of hits it takes
you to disable a Angel's AT Field and to neutralize the enemy." Explained
Ritsuko as a Eva's assault rifle is lowered to the waiting hands of Unit-3.
 "Only thing you have to do is line up the target in the center of the
circle and wait for the cross hairs to turn red, but be careful for there is
buildings that might get in your way and NERV and the UN does not like to
rebuild buildings if they do not have to." Ritsuko explained as Shane took
the rifle with the Eva's hands and prepared to fire at the target.
 "Hello Ritsuko." Misato said as she walks into the room with Kaji.
 "Hello Misato." Said Ritsuko as she turned away from the Eva.
 "How is Shane doing today with his Eva training?" Misato asked as she look
out the window of the control room at Unit-3.
 "Well he has been doing better then the rest of the Children as of basic
movements and firing control, but he has not mastered holding small things
without crushing it and hand-to-hand combat yet, but I think he will catch
on quickly when we increase the training level to five next week." Explained
Ritsuko as she looked at her notes.
 "So he already past the other Children when they where at this stage." Said
a surprised Misato as she looks at a screen with a hit ratio on it and shots
fired on it.
 "So this is the 5th Child that NERV was so desperate to get." Kaji said as
he steps into the light
 "So you are here too."
 "Was there any doubt that I would be here since Katsuragi was on her way to
see you Ritsuko." Said Kaji as he steps beside Misato and stands there.
 "Ma’am Shane is done with the simulator's program and is done with his
session for the day." Explained Maya as Ritsuko looks at Misato and Kaji
silently.
 "Tell Shane he can get out and tell him I want to talk to him about
something when he is done changing." Said Ritsuko as she signals Misato to
come with her into the hallway with her.
The sound of the door closing was heard before Ritsuko began to speak.
 "Have you told the other Children about Shane and the rebuilt Unit-3 ?"
Ritsuko asked as she stares at Misato from across the hall.
 "No, for I was planning to keep this to are selves for someone might use
Shane to their advantage to get high security files and it might cause the
other Children to become stressed or feel betrayed for what happen with the
4th." Misato explained with a emotionless face.
 "I want the other Children to know for if something happens to Shane we
will have another 4th Child incident on our hands if we don't tell them."
Ritsuko explained as she walked off down the hall.
In a small break area Shane seat on a bench drinking a can of soda when
Ritsuko walked in.
 "Hello Shane." Ritsuko said as she sat down next to him.
 "Hello Ritsuko." Shane said in a soft tone of voice.
 "So Shane how is school and have you made any friends?" Ritsuko asked with
a smile.
 "Fine I guess and I really have not made any friends, but I meet another
Eva Pilot."
 "Oh, who was it?" Ritsuko asked as she got up to get something out of one
of the vending machine.
 "I meet Rei Ayanami yesterday, but the others I think don't know that I am
a Eva Pilot." Explained Shane before he tilted the can to take another drink
of his soda.
 "I see, I guess that means you have to tell them yourself one of these
days." Ritsuko said as she sits back down on the bench with a can of coffee
in her hand.
 "I guess it is time to go home." Said Ritsuko as she got up and started to
walk out the room.
Shane did not notice Ritsuko was gone until she was passed the corner and on
her way out.
 "Ritsuko wait up." Said Shane as he through the empty can away and started
to catch p with Ritsuko.
Shane soon caught up with Ritsuko as she boards a elevator that lead to the
office level of NERV headquarters.
In a remote area of NERV headquarters, Commander Ikari and Fuyutusuki was
boarding a train to take them to the surface.
 "So Ikari are your plans for the 5th Child coming true?" Commander
Fuyutusuki asked as he sat across from Commander Ikari that was staring
vacantly out the window.
 "The plans have been changed many times, but the facts are clear. SEELE is
putting their own dummy plug operations into advanced productivity for they
plan to use the 5th's personal data as a test, but SEELE has forgotten the
main reason the dummy plug project was created." Explained Commander Ikari
as the train started to move.
 "What is the true reason you selected Shane Pardue to be the 5th and last?"
Asked Commander Fuyutusuki as he looked out the window with Commander Ikari.
 "I choose the 5th Child for the purpose of using Doctor Akagi to help me
build his new advanced Eva to crush SEELE when the time comes and to give
her a farewell gift before the time comes for me to take my place next to
Yui in Unit-1." Commander Ikari explained as Commander Fuyutusuki looks at
him with a look of fear yet calmness.
At the same time in the power chamber level of NERV headquarters, Kaji was
looking at a steel enforced door with the words "DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE POWER
CORE, ALL PERSONAL MUST WEAR C CLASS OR HIGHER BIO-HAZARD SUITES BEFORE
ENTERING AREA" painted in red.
 Let see here if this is the door I think it is this should be the area that
they bee hiding Unit-3 and its secrets. Kaji thought as he types in some
numbers on a key panel.
The red words "ACCESS ERROR, PLEASE TRY YOUR ID CODE AGAIN" flashes on the
screen as Kaji tries again to be faced with the same message.
 "So you plan to find Unit-3 behind that door and expose the secrets of it
as well." Said Misato as she pulls the safety off her gun and points the
barrel at Kaji's head.
 "Well does this remind you of the time you found out the truth about LCL
and NERV." Kaji said as he raises his hands in the air.
 "I already know all I need to know about Unit-3 and the pilot, and as
friendly advice, stop any and all investigation into Unit-3 and its pilot
for the sake of Ritsuko and myself." Misato said as she puts the safety back
on her gun.
 "Now how can I do that, for you know I am a spy for the Japanese Government
and a part time investigator." Kaji said as he slowly starts to turn to face
Misato.
Kaji turned around slowly to face Misato as a loud siren sounded.
 "What a Angel this soon." A shock Misato said as she started to run to the
elevator with Kaji.
On the Command Bridge, Ritsuko and Maya was preparing Unit-0, 1, and 2 for
deployment when Misato and Kaji arrives at the Command Bridge.
 "What is the statues of the Angel?" Misato asked as she stands in the
center of Ritsuko and Kaji as they all stared at the live feed screen.
 "The Angel is on the outskirts of the city and moving towards the city
slowly, it has just passed the first sector line and is advancing."
Explained Hyuga as he watches the Angel on the 3D radar.
On top of the Geo-Front, UN forces was using everything they had as the
Angel slowly passed over them. The Angel looked like a dark cloud as
missiles and tank shells passed though the Angel's body as it slowly took
the form of Sachiel the Third Angel.
 "What is this." Ritsuko said as Sachiel started to destroy the UN forces.
 "I thought we destroyed Sachiel." Said Misato as the Angel transformed
again in to a misshapen form that had the tentacles of the 4th Angel on its
back and the head and arms of Sachiel and the body of the 13th Angel Bardiel
with the giant red orb in its chest.
So it looks like this Angel uses defeated Angel's weapons instead of
creating its own weapons. Ritsuko thought as UN tanks and air squadrons was
being destroyed by the tentacles and the cross shaped spears of the new
Angel.
 "The UN is ordering us to deploy the EVAs to destroy the Angel." Said Aoba
as he hangs up a phone.
 "Send the EVAs to the mountain launch area to intercept the Angel before it
gets any closer to Tokyo-3, no telling how much damage it will cause if it
gets too close to NERV." Ordered Misato as the Bridge crew followed her
orders.
 "Delay that order." A voice from behind Misato said.
 "Send Unit-1 and 2 to their main launch sites and send Unit-0 with the
sniper rifle to the fall back launch site in the mountains behind Unit-1 and
2." Ordered Commander Ikari as him and Commander Fuyutsuki rose up from the
floor in their Commanders post.
 "Sir, I highly disagree with that order for the amount of damage this Angel
will cause if it gets close to the city and two we have the chance to
destroy it before it get close to a highly populated area." Misato said as
she faces the Commanders.
 "Your statement has been noted and I am releaving you of your command over
this operation as of now, Major Katsuragi." Commander Ikari ordered as
everyone turns to face him with surprise expressions on their faces.
 "Yes Sir," Misato said as she mumbles words under her breath.
 "Order the launch crews to replace the EVAs in the back up cages and tell
the pilot of Unit-3 to prepare for deployment immediately." Ordered
Commander Ikari as he began to think.
 "All EVAs are ready for launch except Unit-3, Sir, " Explained Maya.
 "Excellent, launch Unit-0 though 2 now and tell me when Unit-3's pilot is
ready for deployment," ordered Commander Ikari.
As Commander Ikari ordered the bridge crew, Ritsuko began to think of a
reason Commander Ikari wanted Shane to go into combat now of all times, when
it hit her. Ikari wanted to cause Unit-3 to go berserk or to kill him.
 No, he wouldn't do that or would he for he might think of Shane as a treat
to him. Ritsuko thought as Maya informed the Commander that Unit-3 was ready
for launch.
Everyone thought it was too soon for Shane to face a Angel alone, but the
Commander only orders Maya to tell the other pilots to wait for orders from
Misato and to patch him into Unit-3's video radio.
In the entry plug, Shane waits for the high G-force launch of the Eva when a
video radio window opens.
 "This is the Commander, to Unit-3's pilot." Commander Ikari said as Shane
looks at the image of the Commander.
 "Yes Sir, what are my orders, Sir?" Asked Shane in a uneasy voice for this
was the first time he has spoken to the Commander.
 "Your orders are to destroy the Angel at all cost for you will be the first
line of defense for NERV and Tokyo-3." Commander Ikari ordered before the
radio window went black and closed.
 "Launch Unit-3 now," ordered Commander Ikari.
In a matter of seconds Shane was over taken by the high G's of the launch as
him and his Eva raced to the outskirts of the city throw the launch tube. On
the surface a small mountain opened and the rails of the launch tube
extended and Unit-3 came to a sudden stop.
 "Lets get down to business." Said Shane as Unit-3 grabbed the rifle that
was sent up with it.
 "Lets see here." Shane said as a scanning box appeared in front of him.
The scanning box began to scan the area for the Angel as the Eva's head
slowly moved its head side-to-side. Suddenly a warning massage appeared in
the entry plug, Shane quickly noticed the warning message as the Angel fired
a cross shaped spear at Unit-3. Shane quickly avoids the spear as he fires
the rifle at the Angel.
The Angel moved as quickly as Unit-3 did as it once again changed, suddenly
a eye appeared next to the red orb. Shane tried to regain his balance in the
Eva when the Angel shot a honey looking liquid at the Eva. The Eva quickly
moved its left arm to cover itself from the liquid as the Eva prepared to
fire the rifle again. The liquid hit the forearm of the Eva, suddenly the
honey looking liquid started to melt the armor of the Eva as Shane screamed
in pain for he felt the acid like liquid eating away the armor. Shane
thought quickly and dipped the arm of Unit-3 into a near by river to try an
stop the burning. As Unit-3 tended to its wounds, the Angel again
transformed into a more misshapen form with the head of the 6th Angel and a
combination of half spider legs with the arms of the 3rd Angel. Shane knew
that the Angel would try an attack while it thought Unit-3 was injured so he
waited till the last moment to fire the rifle as the Angel slowly walk
towards Unit-3. Soon the Angel was close enough as Unit-3 fired a whole clip
at the Angel at point blank range. The Angel fell backwards from the force
of the bullets as the Eva slowly walks to the fallen Angel with the empty
rifle at hand. Shane moved Unit-3 closer to the Angel to inspect it for
movement when it happen. The Angel dissolved into a thick black cloud as
Shane was taken off guard by this and tried to remember how to change the
video feed to inferred. Before Shane could act the Angel reformed and
grabbed the head of Unit-3 with one of its hands and the neck with a
tentacle. Shane struggled to free himself as the Angel started to crush the
head with its hand and straggel Unit-3 with the tentacle that was wrapped
around the its neck. Inside the entry plug Shane held his head in pain as
the sound of crushing metal was heard and the imprints of the tentacle was
showing on his neck. The screams of Shane was heard on the Command Bridge as
everyone watched the live feed monitor and was shocked.
The Angel applied more pressure on the head as other tentacles ripped throw
the stomach of Unit-3 and the other hand of the Angel grabbed the arm of
Unit-3 snapping it in two.
 "Lower the percentage down 50 percent," ordered Commander Fuyutsuki.
Commander Ikari only waved his hand to delay the order as he stared at the
entry plug's onboard camera feed. Shane was in much pain as his left arm was
really broken and internal bleeding began in his stomach as he coughed up
blood that mixed with the LCL of the entry plug. Ritsuko could no longer
stand the sight and the screams of Shane dying as she grabs a radio head set
from one of the bridge operators.
 "Shane listen to me, you need to concentrate on expanding your AT Field to
cause the Angel's AT Field to be destroyed." Said Ritsuko as calmly as she
could.
 "The pain," screamed Shane as the Angel increased its AT Field level to
apply more pressure on the head and as it ripped another tentacle into the
stomach of Unit-3.
 "I know you are in allot of pain, but you have to try for if the head is
destroyed you might die and I don't want you to die Shane, not now for all
the time I have been without, so fight damit, fight for your life, fight for
me Shane." Ritsuko shouted as she broke down in tears.
As Ritsuko's words hit Shane's hurting body, Unit-3 grabbed the hand of the
Angel.
 "Unit-3 is creating a AT Field." Maya explained as the tentacle around
Unit-3's neck loosen when Unit-3 grabbed the hand that was crushing its
head.
 "Unit-3 is breaking though, my God the Eva has broken though and is
attacking the target." Shouted Maya as the live feed monitor of the Angel
and Unit-3 showed the beams of light that made up the AT Field braking
apart.
Shane was injured badly as be tried to stay awake when some blood trickled
down his forehead. The Angel's AT Field was now broken as the Angel's hand
snapped from the Eva's hand. The Angel quickly changed again as a eye formed
in its chest. Unit-3's mouth opened as the Angel prepared to fire the acid
from the eye again. Suddenly, Unit-3 grabbed the forming eye and ripped it
into two as a large opening formed from the acid that was now eating the
Angel. As the acid eat at the Angel, the Angel opened its mouth to use it to
bit the head of Unit-3 off. But Unit-3 sensed this and punched the Angel in
the mouth as it came down towards Unit-3's head. The fist of Unit-3 punched
though the sharp teeth of the Angel's mouth to exit from the back of its
head with blood flying all over houses that was too close to the battling
giants. The Angel tried to fight back as the sound of cracking bones and
high pitched screams of the Angel was heard. Maya quickly turned her head
before Unit-3 began to rip the Angel's many arms and tentacles off
one-by-one, then started to rip what was left of the head off. Both Ritsuko
and Misato, along with all the Command Bridge's operators watched as the
carnage unfolded.
"My God what have I done?" Asked Ritsuko to herself as she watched Unit-3
begin to kick the half live Angel around like a soccer ball.
 "Is this Unit-3's Berserker form," Misato asked herself.
Commander Ikari only smiled at the scene of a Eva playing with a fallen
enemy.
 I have done it. I have created the perfect weapon against SEELE and the
Angels and this is without a dummy plug to cause the Eva to go berserk, for
the pilot is in full control. Commander Ikari thought as the Angel finally
dies.
In the entry plug Shane came in and out of conscious as the LCL became
redder and redder by the moment. Shane soon finally gave into the tiredness
as he shut his eyes. The Eva slowly stopped kicking the Angel as the blood
of the Angel began to fill the streams and cover the houses that was close
by. The Eva fell to the ground with the sound of a large bomb going off as
the pilot said his last words softly into the radio.
 "What is the pilot's condition?" Ordered Ritsuko as she rushes to Aoba's
terminal.
 "Pilot statues is unknown." Aoba replied as he frantically typed on his
keyboard.
 "Send a rescue team and a retrieval team to Unit-3's location." Ordered
Ritsuko as the command post of Commander Ikari and Commander Fuyusuki sank
back down into the floor of the Command Bridge.
 "Major Katsuragi tell all other EVAs to proceed to Unit-3's location with
caution for the Angel has not been destroyed." Ordered Commander Ikari as he
sank with his command post.
 "Yes Sir." Misato said as the doors closed over command post.
 "All EVAs proceed to the outskirts of the city in  B formation for the
Angel has disappeared off radar." Ordered Misato as she watched Ritsuko race
towards a emergency exit to get aboard one of the recovery crew's trucks.
 "Unit-1 checking in, no sign of the Angel yet." Explained Shinji as he
carefully moved his Eva though the streets of Tokyo-3.
 "Unit-2 reporting in, no sign of the Angel or anything else for that
matter." Complained Asuka as she watches Shinji from her close range video
transmitter.
 "Rei can you see anything?" Misato asked as there was nothing but silence
from Unit-0's radio.
 "Rei report." Ordered Misato, but Rei was too overtaken by fear and concern
to notice Misato's voice.
The words from Shane before Unit-3 went silent echoed in her head as she
resets her radio band.
 "Unit-0 reporting." Said Rei as she starts to move her Eva.
 "What was the problem, Rei?" Misato asked though the video radio.
 "It was nothing, Major Katsuragi." Rei replied as the words from Shane rang
louder in her head.
On the outskirts of Tokyo-3, at Unit-3's location, emergency and recovery
crews was starting to arrive at the battle zone.
 "Eject the entry plug first so we can see if the pilot is all right."
Ordered a man in a NERV technician’s uniform.
 "Hook up the laptops to the external command ports at the base of the entry
plug hatch." Yelled another man as more recovery and emergency crews
vehicles arrived to isolate the area.
 "Has the entry plug been ejected?" Yelled Ritsuko as she ran from a truck
to the Eva.
 "No Ma'am, we are in the process of ejecting it when you arrived."
Explained a man with a hard hat on and red overalls that was rolled down to
his hips to show his NERV shirt.
 "Eject it now for the pilot's life might be endangered," shouted Ritsuko.
 "Yes Ma'am." Said the man as he began to type on the laptop's keyboard.
The neck of Unit-3 soon open to reveal the end of the entry plug. The man
typed in the ejection codes as the entry plug turned counter clockwise and
the plug locked into its ejection position.
On the Eva's back, NERV technicians was accessing the entry plug's emergency
LCL drain commands when Ritsuko rushed to the entry plug's hatch.
 "Open it now and get the pilot out of there." Ordered Ritsuko as the man
typed on his laptop.
 "LCL drain commands received, emergency draining commands received,
draining LCL now," said the man. The external draining ports appeared as the
LCL gushed out of the entry plug. Soon medics and other technicians rushed
to the Eva to see what was going on.
 "Hey what is that red stuff in the LCL, Ma'am?" The man asked as he watched
the yellow liquid flow out of the drain ports. Ritsuko looked down at the
pool of LCL that started to form on the ground below. In the pool was little
traces of a red liquid that floated in the LCL.
Oh dear God thought Ritsuko as she recognized what the red liquid was and
yells for medics.
 "Entry plug's entry hatch opening." The man said as the airlock pins
rotated and sprang out.
Ritsuko rushed to the opening hatch as there was a gush of steam and then
the hatch lift open. The afternoon sun slowly shines into the entry plug as
the hatch opened slowly to let Ritsuko see inside it. Ritsuko was overtaken
by a full range of emotions as she sees the bleeding body of Shane laying
unconscious, his body limp with not signs of life as his chest slowly rises
and blood slowly pours out of his mouth and nose. The medics rushed up the
Eva to the entry plug as Ritsuko cannot believe what is happening and tries
to wake herself from this nightmare she thought herself in.
On the other side of Tokyo-3, the other Children was not aware of the events
that had taken place for they thought the Angel has disappeared.
 "Asuka, Shinji I want you to return to headquarters immediately," ordered
Misato.
 "But, Misato the Angel is still out there somewhere." Argued Shinji as he
stops his Eva.
 "There was no Angel to begin with. It was a deployment time drill setup by
the UN to test the response time of the EVAs in a attack situation." Said
Misato as she knows it was a lie and she did not want to keep secrets from
them.
 "So I am ordering that all EVAs to return to base for debriefing and
cooling," ordered Misato.
 "Gee they have some nerve for not telling us it was only a stupid test and
I was ready to kick some Angel butt, but the stupid UN has to ruin my fun."
Asuka complained as she turns her Eva around to head back to the deployment
lifts.
 "Shinji are you coming or not?" Yelled Asuka though the video radio.
Shinji did not pay Asuka any attention for he was thinking of why was the
EVAs dispatched in such a rush if the UN was only testing them and why was
Misato ordering them away from the location when they had almost reached it.
Is there something there she does want us to see or was it really a test.
Shinji thought as he starts to head back to the deployment lifts behind
Asuka.
Rei on the other hand was on her way to Unit-3's location in her Eva.
 "Ma'am Unit-0 is refusing orders and is heading for Unit-3's location at
top speed." Said Aoba as he pulls up Unit-0's location on the 3D map.
 "Rei what are you doing," ordered Misato though the video radio.
 "I know that Unit-3 was critically damaged and I am heading to Unit-3's
location on my own." Rei said as her Eva jumped over some power lines.
 "I am giving you a direct order to stay away from the area and to return to
the deployment lift sit immediately." Ordered Misato as Rei closed in on
Unit-3's location.
 "Rei did you hear me?" Yelled Misato as Rei closed the radio circuits in
her Eva.
 "Damit, she cut me off." Said Misato as she watches Unit-0 close in on
Unit-3's location.
At Unit-3's location a ambulance crew was loading Shane's body into the
ambulance when Unit-0 reached the damaged Unit-3.
 "Doctor Akagi," shouted a man with a portable radio in his hand.
 "What is it, I don't have time to take orders right now." Yelled Ritsuko as
she starts to climb into the ambulance’s back.
 "Sorry Ma'am, but the pilot of Unit-0 wants to speak to you." Said the man
as he hands Ritsuko the radio.
 "Is he all right," asked a worried Rei.
 "It is unknown right now for he has lost a great deal of blood and he maybe
in a coma." Yelled Ritsuko into the radio as a NERV hover jet landed.
Rei watched from the entry plug of Unit-0 as the ambulance left the area and
as Misato walked away from the hover jet.
 "Patch me into Unit-0's emergency radio circuits." Ordered Misato as the
hover jet took off.
 "Rei why did you disobey a direct order," asked Misato.
 "I was worried for the pilot of Unit-3," replied Rei in a soft tone.
 "That is not a excuse for disobeying a direct order and closing the radio
circuits of the Eva to avoid that order," explained Misato though a radio.
 "I'm sorry Ma'am for disobeying a direct order." Said Rei as she turns her
Eva around to return to the deployment lift.
 "Rei, I know that you was worried for Shane, but I need to keep this a
secrete for now and I want to talk to you when you return to headquarters."
Misato said before handing the radio to a man.
As Rei returns to the Geo-Front, the ambulance that was carrying Ritsuko and
Shane to the hospital races though the streets of Tokyo-3 to the hospital.
 "This is ambulance 3 calling T3 General Hospital, we have NERV personal
aboard and are requesting that NERV ER crews be ready receive a patient."
Said the ambulance driver over the CB of the ambulance.
The ambulance soon came to a stop in front of the hospital's special
entrance for NERV.
 "Get him on the express elevator stat." Ordered a Doctor as he ran towards
the ambulance. The doors of the elevator closed as a doctor and nurses
rushed to save Shane's life.
 "Give him 20cc of adrenaline." Yelled the Doctor as Shane's heart began to
stop beating.
 "Doctor we are losing him." Yelled a nurse as Shane flatlined.
 "Shock the flatline now," ordered the Doctor.
 "Clear!" Yelled a nurse as the paddles sent a surge of electricity though
Shane to start his heart.
The crew of nurses and the Doctor rushed passed the ER's doors as Ritsuko
watches from the door's window as Shane is rushed into the ER.
In the ER the doctor and nurses rushed to save the life of Shane as his
heart began to stop beating again.
 "What the hell happened to this boy?" Asked the Doctor as he began to nurse
Shane's wounds.
 "All they will tell us is that he was in a serious accident about ten
minutes ago." Explained a nurse as Shane flatlined again.
 "Damit, we are losing him again!" Yelled the Doctor as one of the nurses
shocked Shane again to start his heart again.
Time passed slowly for Ritsuko and Misato for they feared the worst for
Shane as he struggled to stay alive. In the depths of NERV headquarters Rei
was sitting in one of the many briefing rooms when Misato walked in.
 "I am sorry for chewing you out back then." Said Misato as she walks into
the room.
 "You do not have to apologize for I did disobey a direct order and putting
the whole operation at risk from my actions." Said Rei as she looks down at
the floor.
Misato only looked at Rei in silence as she sits in her chair and starts to
cry out of sorrow.
 "I have gotten word from the hospital that Shane has stabilized and is
breathing on his own." Said Misato as she walks out the door of the briefing
room.
Tears of happiness replaced the tears of sorrow that she shed for now she
knows that Shane is alive.
Above the Geo-Front at Misato's apartment, Shinji was busy cooking dinner
when the phone rang.
 "Hello," answered Shinji
 "Shinji, I will be late again for I have to finish some work here, so don't
wait up." Said Misato as she hangs ups the phone on the other end.
 "Who was that Shinji?" Asked Asuka as she walks into the kitchen.
 "It was Misato, calling to tell us that she has to work late and no to
expect her till later tonight." Explained Shinji as he finishes his cooking.
 "Oh is that all, I was hoping that Misato would work late so we can have a
one-on-one talk with each other over dinner,." Asuka said in a seductive
voice as she walks towards Shinji with a seductive smile on her face.
Soon both Shinji and Asuka was seating across from each other at the kitchen
table. Both Shinji and Asuka gazed into each others eyes as the love for
each other grow.
 "Shinji," started Asuka as Shinji placed a hand on top of her's.
 "Yes, Asuka." said Shinji as he holds her hand.
 "I love you Shinji with all my heart and will love you till the end of
time." Said Asuka as she started to blush from her confession.
 "I know that, Asuka. I to love you dearly for you are the only reason I
pilot Unit-1." Explained Shinji as he lends across the table and kisses her
on the lips.
The candles on the table flickers as their love grew stronger with every
passing moment.
The morning sun rises to fill the sky over Tokyo-3 with its beautiful
colors. The citizens awake to start the day and to rush to work or school as
they do everyday, but this day will be different for the people of NERV and
the Evangelion Pilots for they will be changed for life.
In a darken hospital room lays Shane's seriously injured body that was
placed in a life monitoring tube. A tired Ritsuko tries to stay wake for the
fear of losing him my come true. Misato quietly walks into the room as a
tired Ritsuko falls asleep in a chair. The thoughts of losing him forever
plagues her as she closes her eyes.
 "So how is he doing?" whispered Misato as she shook Ritsuko on her shoulder
to wake her.
 "Oh, it's you, Misato."
 "So how is he," asked Misato as she walks to the tube.
Misato looks on at the lifeless body of Shane that looked like a shell of
something that was once living.
 "It is not good, for he lost a great deal of blood ad his heart is trying
to stop from the lack of blood it was without in the entry plug, but that is
not the worst part. He has slipped into a deep coma last night." Ritsuko
explained as she looks at Shane with Misato.
 "That bad." Said Misato as she placed the flowers she brought on a small
table that was next to the tube.
 "I will watch over him while you go home and get some sleep." Said Misato
as she pulls the chair that Ritsuko was sitting in closer to the tube's
side.
 "No, I can't leave him, not now," pleaded Ritsuko.
 "You do not do Shane any good if you do not get any sleep for you might
have a accident that could have been avoided if you have gotten some sleep."
Explained Misato as she sat down in the chair.
 "Please Misato let me stay for I might lose him at anytime." A pleading
Ritsuko said as tears started to form in her eyes.
 "Please Ritsuko leave and get some sleep for Shane," Misato said.
 "I will do it for Shane, but call me if anything happens while I am gone."
Said a guilt stricken Ritsuko as she slowly walks away from the tube and her
child maybe forever.
 "I am so sorry Shane for what happen. It's all Commander Ikari's fault for
putting you in here in this dame machine and for making Ritsuko worry so
much about you when this could have been avoided." Said Misato as she
presses her face against the cold glass of the tube and cried softly.
Across the city at Misato's apartment, Shinji and Asuka wakes to face a new
day together foe they have truly loved each other and cared for each other
for the first time as their love grew stronger by the moments. Both had
decided to tell Misato first about their love, but she was nowhere to be
found in the apartment or at NERV.
 "I wonder were she could be." Said Asuka from behind the bathroom's
curtain.
 "She might have gone to visit Touji at the hospital." Explained Shinji from
the kitchen as he cooked their breakfast.
 "I was planning to visit him today. Do you want to join me Asuka?" Said
Shane as he places two plates on the table with their breakfast on them.
 "Well I guess we can tell Touji about us if you want to." Asuka said as she
opens the curtain and walks towards Shinji to hug him around his neck.
 "I wonder what he would say when we tell him?" Wondered Shinji out loud as
he sat down at the table with Asuka.
 "He probably say it is some kind of sick joke or he having a nightmare."
Said Asuka as she points a fork at Shinji.
 "Well I guess we have to prove it to him then." Said Shinji as he lend over
the table and kisses Asuka on her soft lips.
 "Since you put it that way, lets do it." Said a love stricken Asuka.
In the apartment of Ritsuko Akagi, Ritsuko sleeps uneasy as she is having a
horrible nightmare. Ritsuko's mind influences her nightmare as images of
past and present memories collided to form a hellish dream.
 "You killed me and took my child, Ritsuko." Shouted a voice as Ritsuko runs
in darkness.
 "No, that's not true. I have not killed anyone and I only took Shane for he
needed a mother. I was the only one that could have cared and loved him as
much as Jessica could." Shouted Ritsuko as she runs endlessly in the
darkness.
The darkness quickly overwhelms her as the black currents of the darkness
sets her on a beach shore. The sand as red as blood as the sky was a black
as the sea that was in front of her. Ritsuko slowly looks around to see the
beach and the sea and nothing else.
 "Hello Ritsuko." Said a voice from behind Ritsuko.
Ritsuko quickly turns around to face the voice and the person that spoke it.
 "Mother is that you?" Asked a confused Ritsuko.
 "Yes Ritsuko, it is me your mother." Said Naoko as she held out her arms to
hug her daughter.
 "Mother," said Ritsuko as she hugs her mother.
The feeling of being held in her mother's arms conferred Ritsuko as she
holds her mother close.
 "Shh, shh, I'm here and there is nothing to be afraid of, now that I am
here." Said Naoko as she rocks her daughter slightly in her arms.
 "It was horrible, the voice shouting at me about not caring and loving
Shane and for killing Jessica." Ritsuko said as tears began to fall from her
eyes.
 "I know that you killed Jessica and took her child for you own and it is
time to erase that mistake by taking your life to avenge Jessica," said
Naoko softly.
 "What did you say?" Ritsuko asked as she slowly pulls away from her mother’
s arms.
 "I said, I must kill you for you was a mistake and to avenge Jessica's
death," said Naoko.
 "No, no, your not my mother," shouted Ritsuko in horror.
 "Your right, I am not your mother." Naoko said as she melted into the sand.
 "Why, why must I be tortured like this?" Asked Ritsuko to herself over and
over again in her mind.
 "The reason is for you to see the truth and to show you a reason to live."
Said a child that look like Ritsuko.
As the words left the child Ritsuko's mouth, images of her and her mother,
of Jessica, Misato, Kaji, and Commander Ikari, then of Shane. The images
slowly stops as images of Shane and herself appear.. The images of her and
Shane flashes in front of her eye as a voice spoke.
 "Lier, you took the child because of Gendou and Yui had a child and you
know that you could not have Gendou for yourself and never have a child for
no one has ever loved you in your life." Said the voice as the beach
disappeared.
 "That's not true." Yelled Ritsuko as she now stood in darkness.
The voice repeated its statement over and over, saying it faster and faster
till Ritsuko screamed.
 "Stop it." Ritsuko screamed as she held her hands over her ears to try to
block the voice as she fell to her knees.
 "Stop it, please stop it." Said Ritsuko as she broke down in tears.
 "You are the only one that can stop it." Said a voice from the darkness.
Ritsuko looks up with tears in her eyes to see Shane in his plug suit..
 "Shane is that you?" Ritsuko asked with tears in her eyes.
 "Yes Ritsuko, it is me." Said Shane as he hugs her.
 "Shane, I was so worried for you. I will never let you die." Said Ritsuko
as  she held his head with her hand to place it on her shoulder.
 "I know that you will never let me die, but why did you try to kill me,"
asked Shane.
 "I did not try to kill you, it was Gendou's fault for sending you out to
fight the Angel alone." Ritsuko said as she held him closer to him.
 "Shane, Shane, what's wrong?" Ritsuko asked as she felt Shane stop
breathing.
Ritsuko quickly pulls Shane away from her slightly as his body went limp in
her arms.
 "No, not him, anyone except him." Screamed Ritsuko as she held Shane's died
body in her arms.
 "Bring him back, bring my son back to me," demand Ritsuko.
Suddenly she wakes from her nightmare as she gasps for air. Ritsuko sat up
in her bed to find herself in her bedroom. The sound of rain and thunder is
heard as Ritsuko brings her knees to her chin and wraps her arms around
them.
 Shane is dying and I cannot do a thing. Thought Ritsuko as she rocks
slightly on her bed.
 Why must he suffer like this Ikari, for you to satisfy your thirst of
power. Ritsuko thought as tears started to run down her cheeks.
At the hospital, Misato watches over Shane's lifeless body from the glass of
the monitoring tube.
 Damn you Ikari, for sending Shane out to battle without telling him about
the Angel's capabilities when they are threaten, said Misato to herself.
As Misato watches Shane, the mind of Shane wonders inside itself.
 Where am I? Thought Shane as he floats in a sea of darkness.
 "You are inside your mind." Said a voice from the darkness.
 "Who said that!" Shouted Shane as he floats in the darkness.
 "I am you in a since for there are two true Shane Pardues," said the voice.
 "What do you mean?"
 "The true selves are you and me."
 "But how are you?"
 "I am a past version of yourself that you have forgotten and I will help
you find the only true Shane Pardue." The voice said as a bright light
appeared.
The flash of light soon dimmed to reveal a small office.
 "What, where am I now?" Demanded Shane as a bright light flashed, blinding
Shane for a moment.
 "Do you remember this office? The things on the desk, anything?" The voice
asked.
 "No, should I?" Shane asked as another flash of light engulfed Shane.
 "Do you remember your mother, her voice, her smile?" Asked the voice as a
woman appeared at the desk sitting in a chair.
 "No, I never had a mother for my Aunt told me she found me abandoned by the
street!" Yelled Shane as he remembered his Aunt's words.
 "That is wrong for you had a mother and she gave you a gift when you was
very young." The voice said as he woman turned her head to look at Shane.
 "What do you mean? I never had a mother and I never received a gift." Shane
yelled as the woman brushed the stray hairs out of her face.
 "try to remember the earliest memory from your childhood." The voice said
as the woman got up from her chair and walked right though Shane to the door
behind him.
 "I remember the day, I was five and I was at home. My Aunt and Uncle was
fighting about something," said Shane.
 "Try to remember what they were fighting about." The voice said as the
office changed into a kitchen with a den connected to it by a doorway, with
a much younger Shane staring into the kitchen.
 "I remember that my Uncle was yelling at my Aunt about a woman named
Jessica and a woman named, Ahgg, I can't remember the other name." Shane
said as he grabbed his head for there was a sharp pain when he tried to
remember the name.
 "Try to remember the name for it is the name of someone who you loved and
she loved you like a so when you was with her," said the voice.
 "Why do I have to remember the name for I have never had a mother." Yelled
Shane as he falls to his knees in pain.
 "Cut the main power." Ordered a voice from the darkness.
 "Oh my God, send a recovery and medical teams down there now," yelled
another voice.
 "Get a flat bed over here." Another voice yelled as a bright light flashed
in front of Shane.
The light revealed a room with a Eva and a smashed entry plug.
 "Oh dear God, call the hospital, tell them we have a body coming in." A
woman shouted as she unfolded a flat bed.
 "Who are these people, what happened to that woman?" Shane asked before the
pain hit him again.
 "Do you remember when I told you that you had a mother?" The voice asked as
the woman on the flat bed softly called out a name.
Shane watched the woman as she said the name of Shane softly before her eyes
closed.
 "What is this?" Shane yelled as the pain in his head became more
unbearable.
 "You remember now, good." The voice said as a bright light came over Shane.
 "Remember what?" Yelled Shane as he rose from his knees.
 "Do remember the name Doctor Jessica Kim?" The voice asked as the room
changed to a hospital room with a woman holding her child in her arms as she
sits next to the window, looking out at the setting sun.
 "No, should I?" Shane asked as the woman spoke to where she could be heard.
 "My perfect little angel." The woman said as she rocks her child in her
arms.
 "So have you chosen a name yet?" Asked a doctor as he walks into the room.
 "Oh it's you Doctor Bush." The woman said as she turns her head to face the
Doctor.
 "Well," asked the tall, dark haired doctor as he looks at a chart in his
hand.
 "Well I was thinking about the name Shane for it was the father's and it
suits him," explained the woman.
 "Shane, that is a wonderful name for a child for it means God's greatest
gift. I really think that a great name." Said Doctor Bush as he lends over
to look at the child.
 "Doctor I need to talk to you." Said a nurse as she rushes by the door.
 "So she was my mother." Shane said as he was shocked to find out  for the
first time he had a mother.
These explains the picture in Ritsuko's apartment, the woman with the locket
was in fact my mother. Shane said to himself as the room turned a bright
white.
 "Good you remember that you had a mother who loved and cared for you as
long as she was on this earth and beyond." The voice said as another flash
of light engulfed Shane.
Shane soon found himself in a darken room with a glass floor and two people
in the room that was talking about something.
 "So what's going to happen to him," a woman in a lab coat asked.
 "That is up to the orphanage," explained a man in a NERV military uniform.
 "So he is all alone in a strange country with no mother or father to look
after him." The woman said as she held a baby in her arms.
 "My I have the child now?" The man in the NERV uniform asked as he reached
out for the baby.
 "Can he be adopted by someone who knew the mother when she was living," the
woman asked.
 "Yes, but at this time I do not see anyone here that knows the mother on a
personal level and two NERV personal files shows that their are no other
family that lives in the area or in the country for that fact," explained
the man.
 "Can I adopt him," the woman asked.
 "Did you know the mother," asked the man.
 "Yes, I was her co-worker and friend when the accident happened." The woman
explained as she stepped into the light to reveal her face, the face of
Ritsuko.
 "Then I must have you fill out the papers and legal documents to have you
show up as the guardian and foster mother of the child and to have legal
hold of the child as well." The man explained as he walked into the shadows.
 "So Ritsuko was in fact my adopted mother. That's why when I was fighting
the Angel she told me she did not want to lose me again and the reason she
treats me like a son instead of a Eva Pilot like the others." Said Shane as
the voice that has been helping him took shape.
 "I see you have discovered the truth behind Ritsuko's behavior towards you
and the way she loves you like a son instead of a Eva Pilot like Shinji,
Asuka, and Rei." The voice said as Shane turns to face it.
 "It was you that was the voice." Shane said as he recognized the figure as
his real mother Dr. Jessica Kim.
 "I know that it has been hard for you though the years not knowing were you
got the locket from and who was your mother, but you did well Shane, for I
am very proud to have given you life and loved you when I was alive, but
someone else needs you right now for the love of a mother is strong in her."
Jessica said as she hugs her son for the first and last time as a flash of
light broke though the darkness.
 "Wait mother, don't go, wait mother, I lover you always." Shane said as his
body faded into light.
In the hospital room, Misato watches over the lifeless body of Shane as he
lays there silently when it happened.
 "What tha," Misato said as she looks at Shane's face to see him crying.
The life monitor of the tube opened the hatch as the once lifeless body of
Shane began to wake. Misato only cries out of joy as Shane starts to sit up
in the tube. "Shane," yelled Misato as she hugs Shane to make sure she was
not dreaming. Shane only hugs Misato back as his vision slowly came back to
him from the white he first saw.
 "Thank you mother." Shane whispered as Doctors and nurses rushes into the
room.
As Shane wakes from his coma, Shinji and Asuka steps off the  elevator on
NERV's floor of the hospital.
 "So where is Touji?" Asuka asked as she watches Shinji walk to the waiting
room.
 "Touji's room is next to his sister's room." Explained Shane as he motions
Asuka to follow him.
As Asuka and Shinji rounds the corner that lead to the main hall, they heard
Misato yelling at a nurse where the phone was. Misato ran out of a room to
the nurse's station to use the phone there.
 "Hello Misato." Said Shinji and Asuka as Misato began to dial Ritsuko's
number.
 "Oh hi." Misato said as the phone on the other end began to ring.
 "Wait a second, what are you two doing here?" Misato asked as she totally
forgot that Touji was at the same hospital.
 "Well, I'm waiting." Misato said as she waits for the phone on the other
end to be answered.
 "Well you see Misato, me and Asuka are in love." Shinji explained as he
began to blush from the embarrassment of his confession.
 "You are what." A shocked Misato said from the news for she thought Shinji
liked Rei.
 "That's right, we are in love and there is nothing anyone can do about it."
Asuka said as she points a finger high in the air.
 "I'm happy for the both of you." Misato said as the phone on the other end
was answered.
 "Ritsuko it's me, he's awake from the coma and would love to see you right
now." Said Misato as Shinji and Asuka wonders what she was talking about.
 "Misato my I ask you what you mean by he's awake from the coma?" Shinji
asked as the pieces started to come together about Misato's secret.
 "I guess it is time to tell you the truth about everything." Misato said as
she walks passed Shinji and Asuka to the waiting room.
Shinji and Asuka follows Misato to the waiting room as Misato sits down.
 "Well," asked Asuka as she sits to hear a explanation when the elevator
stopped on the floor and the doors opens and Ritsuko rushes in.
 "Where is he," a frantic Ritsuko asked.
 "He is in his room and the Doctors told me he has not suffered any brain
damage or serious injuries from the battle." Misato explained as Ritsuko
then rushes to Shane's room.
 "Well," Asuka repeated as she wanted to know.
 "The truth is that a Angel did in fact attack Tokyo-3 and the EVAs was
deployed for no reason for the exception of Unit-3," Misato explained.
 "What do you mean Unit-3, I thought it was destroyed." Shinji said in a
surprised tone.
 "Yes, it was destroyed, but it was rebuilt by NERV as a safety precaution
if all the other EVAs was destroyed and NERV was left defenseless." Misato
said as she tries to hid her tears.
 "But, who was the pilot?" Demanded Asuka as Shinji tried to calm her.
 "The 5th Child was the pilot and when it did battle with the Angel for the
first time." Said Misato as Ritsuko walk into the waiting room.
 "Oh Ritsuko," said Misato as she notices Ritsuko standing in the waiting
room.
 "The Doctor said he has to stay in the hospital for another week or so and
go through therapy to build back his strength." Explained Ritsuko as she
walked towards the trio in the waiting room.
 "Have you told them the name of Unit-3's pilot and the connection he has to
me?" Ritsuko asked as she sat down next to Misato.
 "I was just about to tell them that," said Misato.
 "The pilot of Unit-3 was a boy named Shane Pardue and he was Ritsuko's son
at one time," explained Misato.
 "You might have meet him at school." Misato said as Shinji began to
remember the rumors about a new Eva Pilot being transferred to the school.
Misato told more of  Shane's story, about what happened to Shane during the
fight with the Angel and how Commander Ikari sent Shane on a suicide mission
to test his skills and training. Shinji started to fill in the missing
pieces to the puzzle, to Rei's recent behavior and the recall of the EVAs
during an attack and the other weird things that was going on at NERV.
The day grew late, as Ritsuko was faced with the truth she held from Shane.
Shane was looking out the window that was next to his bed when a nurse
knocked on the door.
 "Mr. Pardue you have a visitor." The nurse said as she lets Ritsuko into
the room.
Shane looked out the window at the mountains and the sun that was falling
behind them, when Ritsuko walked into the room. Ritsuko calmly sat down in a
chair that was close to the bed as Shane sat up in the bed. Ritsuko and
Shane look at each other silently when Ritsuko broke the silence.
 "Shane I have something to tell you," Ritsuko said in a soft motherly tone.
 "Yes, Ritsuko," Shane said as he reached for his dogtag that was on a
little night stand next to the bed.
Ritsuko watches as Shane slipped the chain of the tag around his head, then
a familiar sight was seen. On Shane's dogtag, next to the tag was Jessica's
locket and ring. Ritsuko watched as the locket spinned slightly with the
ring next to it as she started to talk.
 "I wanted to tell you that I was a dear friend of your mother and I know
she would be proud of you, if she could see you know, a strong, handsome
young man and a Eva Pilot too, for she and I worked on the EVAs, before her
death." Ritsuko said as she tries to hold back the tears of her sorrow and
hardship.
 "I know it has been hard on you keeping my mother's death from me," said
Shane.
 "I know my mother died in a failed activation test and that you adopted me
when she died for I found the lost memories of my childhood and the memories

as he looks at Ritsuko with eyes of sorrow and pain.
 "Shane, I was too weak to tell you before, but when I was on the verge of
losing you I had to tell you for if you died before you know the truth, I
would have never forgiven myself for I love you as a son." Ritsuko said as
she cries on Shane's chest.
 "I know that pain all to well for I had a feeling that there was something
you was not telling me when I first meet you on the elevator that day."
Shane said as Ritsuko hugs him for he understood the pain she went though.
In the depths of NERV headquarters, Commander Ikari is thinking of the
recent problems Misato and Kaji has started and now if Ritsuko finds out
about the true nature of Shane, she might side with his problems for she
knows too much about the EAV's true nature and the special projects he has
been keeping from the Committee and the Children. Commander Ikari only
ponders these problem as he stares vacantly at his empty office and thinks
of a solution to destroy his problems at once.
