This reminds me of the new Plan introduced in Foundation's Edge (yes, I WILL
insert [relevant] Asimov references whenever possible ^^), Galaxia: Unifying
all human (and non-human, even inorganic) conciousness across the Milky Way,
to prepare for the possibility of extragalactic non-human intelligence (which
the original Plan failed to take into account).

Individuality is worth it.  Knowing your pain is your own is strangely
comforting.
