If he created the people such as Asuka and Rei in his mind, of course he could 
see into theirs, because their minds are an extention of his.

## That would be quite different from the situation where those people are 
## indeed Asuka or Rei. Those "Asuka" and "Rei" would act as what Shinji
## perceived, consciously or subconsciously, them to behave.
